This does remind me of my first job out of college way back in the radar and microwave department of a large military contractor designing thick & thin film modules for the navy.

One of the radar modules was installed in a CIWS (Close In Weapons System) similar to what the video shows -- however the CIWS was meant to be the last resort for taking down missiles about to hit the ship.

The navy complained the radar module was out of compliance with the contractual requirements for detecting and tracking small objects including both metallic & non-metallic objects -- which are the equivalent of the profile of missiles coming in at various angles which may has various coatings on missiles to reduce their radar signature. Their most important complaint was about non-metallic objects.

The radar department engineers did a lot of work and some updates were made. I was the junior engineer responsible for testing the module.

I was part of the group that went to the navy test firing range. It was right on the beach with a CIWS mounted on the shoreline firing over the water. Other equipment was arranged to throw objects across the range -- similar to skeet shooting. Plus some small drones which flown across the range via remote control.

There is a whole crowd of navy brass and corporate executives -- plus our small team of engineers plus some navy enlisted guys doing the set-up and work.

We power up the CIWS system with the new module and the first thing that happens is a large seabird flies across the range. Surprising everyone --the CIWS quickly whirls into action after detecting the bird -- and shortly thereafter the only thing we see is a few feathers floating down.

The top navy officer comments, "We see the non-metallic object problem is gone".

The new module went on to pass all the tests.

Olga the Iron Beaver must be off in a lunatic asylum by now.

And RT babe is not even allowed on air now because she lost it and called for killing of Ukrainian kids etc.

Other than that, everything is good I guess.

Belarus complains about Ukrainian laying mines on border

Belarusian border guards have said they are not happy with “Ukrainians mining the borderline territories,” the State Border Committee of Belarus said in a message on Nov. 12.

According to Belarusian officials, Ukrainian forces are not only laying mines on the border with Belarus – from where Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24 – but are also destroying roads and infrastructure facilities nearby.

“Besides ruining checkpoint access roads and infrastructure facilities, they laid mines in the adjacent territory,” the Belarusians said. The committee also published a video of Ukrainians "mining" fields.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian presidential adviser Kyrylo Tymoshenko said Ukraine is building a wall on its border with Belarus. He said construction is taking place in Volyn, Rivne and Zhytomyr oblasts. About 3 kilometers of barbed-wire-topped wall has already been finished in Volyn, he said.

Ukraine’s General Staff previously warned of the growing threat of a new Russian offensive on Ukraine on the northern front – not in the direction of Kyiv, but instead more to the west, closer to the Polish-Ukrainian border. The aim of the invasion would be to cut the main routes used by Ukraine’s partners to supply weapons and military equipment to Ukraine.

At the beginning of November it was reported that Belarus needed at least two or three months to prepare its attacking forces for an invasion.

Meanwhile, Russia uses the territory of Belarus to train its troops and launch missile attacks.

Russian Rally Urges Putin to Strike US With Nuke-Capable Satan II Missile
    By Thomas Kika On 11/12/22

A rally recently held in Moscow saw attendees and leaders calling for Russian President Vladimir Putin to launch a nuclear strike against Washington, D.C.

A clip from the rally was shared to Twitter on Saturday morning by Julia Davis, creator of the Russian Media Monitor and columnist for The Daily Beast. In the video, a man can be seen leading a crowd of people through the streets of Moscow and through chants calling for attacks on Washington.

"Strike the decision-making centers," the man leading the crowd shouts. "On Washington! A flight task for the Sarmat missile. On Washington! Sarmat, strike the enemy's cities. On Washington!...U.S.A. is the enemy! We will go to heaven as martyrs. They will simply croak."

The Sarmat missile referred to during the rally is the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), a thermonuclear weapon added to Russia's arsenal in 2018 and nicknamed the "Satan II."

As Davis wrote in her tweet, the rally-goers' "we will go to heaven as martyrs" statement is in reference to comments made by Putin in 2018. Despite the rally calling for action, the comments they referenced saw Putin pledge that Russia would respond to any nuclear attack against it, but would never be the first to strike in such a way. The comments came not long after Russia introduced its expanded nuclear arsenal, which included the Satan II missile.

"An aggressor should know that vengeance is inevitable, that he will be annihilated, and we would be the victims of the aggression," Putin said at the time, according to The Moscow Times. "We will go to heaven as martyrs, and they will just drop dead. They will not even have time to repent for this."

A report last week from the Russian Military Thought magazine claimed that the United States is working on plans to neutralize significant portions of Russia's nuclear stockpile before the nation is able to launch a strike. This plan would involve the use of non-nuclear arms on the part of the U.S., with the report stating that "the United States seeks to possess strategic non-nuclear weapons with a short flight time to the target" that are not subject "to any bilateral or international restrictions."

Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to prepare for the mounting possibility that Russia will deploy nuclear weapons against it in the face of its continually beleaguered invasion. On Tuesday, the country's military engaged in drills to prepare for the possibility of a nuclear attack, with exercises focused on preparing "to eliminate the consequences of a nuclear strike."
