Russia & Ukraine

  1. The Russians are quite up for an extended standstill in the east- they were already at war in the east with Ukraine - on a smaller scale- for eight years and they would be fine with the same on a larger scale......except this time around, there are sanctions and Putin does care about them....and he has the pesky little problem of how to get the sanctions lifted if he is still actively killing Ukrainians and has not paid up his reparations- as if that is ever going to happen.

But he has a plan, which is to watch the west fold or weaken its position and go in different directions in regard to the sanctions. Of course that does not have to happen but he has good reason to believe that they will given the nature of the parties involved- so it would be up to the west to prove him wrong. The original point being that -unlike before- a standoff-standstill in the east for years will still work hard against Russia if the sanctions are kept in place or enhanced.

It was not a small attack in Crimea.

When it comes to all things Russia a good rule of thumb is the more you know the less you really know.

I have no doubt the Russians prosecuting this war are aggrieved by this Ukrainian attack on what we believe to be an air base in Crimea. This is precisely why I will be watching the Russian answer to this attack and said it will give us a good idea of what the Russians have left in the tank. They have to respond. Every foreign military in the world is watching this conflict and assessing strength and making defensive decisions concerning Russian based on how it unfolds. If the Russians take this strike up the ass it will show great weakness long range.

  4. "by unknown weapons"

As I have said before, the U.S. agreed to not send long range missiles that go into the HIMAR launch systems- just the short and medium range ones- BUT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN SOME LONG ONES COULD "INADVERTENTLY" GET MIXED IN.

  5. I think they have a lot left in the tank. But the same question arises for me after they use what is currently in the tank. They have saved up a lot and are using a lot for this donbass offensive and defensive so there will be lot of weaponry flying around. But then what do you do for an encore. Same issue with troops. They have lots of troops scrounged up and being brought in but what are they going to do for an encore after that? Recruiting getting harder and goofier.

They have loaded their black sea subs with hypersonic missiles so there will be some whizzing here and there before it is over. But even that is tricky to assess because they will use it in areas that they do not think they can take. A true scorched earth pyrrhic campaign. You get the city but it looks like the parking lot for a closed down K-Mart in Teaneck, N.J.

Ukraine continues to win the PR war too. But to be fair the Russians aren’t exactly known for humor and friendliness.

  7. Of course Ukrainians are winning the PR challenge, Ukraine is helped by the western media whilst Russian one is silenced, secondly, Ukrainians are masters of performing arts, lots of talent comes from Ukraine. Shit, Zelensky himself has been elected due to his acting skills, ppl got used to him acting as a president for years prior to him being elected. So he knows how to manipulate the crowd and he loves it, it is rather obvious. I perceive him exclusively as an actor.

The last we heard from Master Pu he was muttering “I’m not gay. But 20 rubles is 20 rubles” while trolling the streets of Saint Petersburg.

  9. Delusional is what you are. Actually, the differential diagnosis would be schizophrenia, you are hearing voices but I haven’t said anything of the kind.
