  6. Not all Afghanis are taliban and not all Ukrainians are what you’d like to call democratic Europeans. You must be fond only of books that have colourful illustrations.

Russian charged with using US groups to spread propaganda
By ERIC TUCKER and MIKE SCHNEIDER47 minutes ago[IMG]
WASHINGTON (AP) — A Russian operative under the supervision of one of the Kremlin’s main intelligence services has been charged with recruiting political groups in the United States to advance pro-Russia propaganda, including during the invasion of Ukraine, the Justice Department said Friday.

The indictment of Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov reflects what U.S. officials say are ongoing Russian government efforts to meddle in the American political process, to shape public opinion and to sow discord and dissent on hot-button social issues.

In this case, the authorities say, Ionov for roughly the last decade recruited political groups in Florida, Georgia and California and directed them to spread pro-Russia talking points. He also paid for group members to attend government-funded conferences in Russia, as well as a protest in the U.S. against social media efforts to suppress online support for Moscow’s Ukraine invasion, the indictment says........

We have a lot of Russian agents operating in America and associating with and throughout the Republican Party. Obviously this is difficult to solve because Russians have funneled money directly into the RNC (National Republican Party) through the NRA and other sources, and the Russians have funded local Republican groups. So the appetite isn’t there from half of the political body. Our federal department of Justice has to be careful as well because the Republican association with Russian money gets characterized as a “deep state” witch hunt when investigations are launched. It’s a huge problem. As long as Russians are funding the NRA and RNC America is walking a right rope.

Our assessment is the Ukrainians are doing well and Putin is scraping the bottom of the barrel. This whole thread is informative. I suggest reading it through if you are interested in the Russian Ukrainian war.
