Biden is actually doing a pretty good job with this. We went through a long lull without NATO having to flex its muscles and a lot of people here in America took it for granted. But Biden has been effective at bringing the alliance together. Now we will see what the post invasion looks like, if Putin goes in, and we can judge Biden on that. Also, in the off chance Putin doesn’t go in then that is also a version of victory depending on what was negotiated- for the record I don’t like the French leading these last minute talks because they are surrender prone. Another thing Biden has done, that has broken with tradition, is putting the intelligence out in the open and identifying Russian plans. Has this thwarted an invasion, probably not but it certainly has frustrated the Russians. The truth is that the United States on its own does not have much sway in Eastern Europe and we rely on NATO push our interests there. Once you realize the importance of NATO and recognize American and western interests are in opposition to Russian interests, you’ll better understand and be able to judge Biden’s performance in this matter. I will tell you something else we have even less influence in the matter between Taiwan and China. The major failure there was we did not bring the Trans Pacific Partnership to fruition. We are playing with a bum hand in that matter.

Other than the fact that Biden being elected is the very reason why Putin concluded that this was the ideal time to strike. In addition, Trump, not Biden, is the one who had the proper view toward Nato- ie. they need to take things seriously and pony up because they are too dependent on the Americans not only for dollars but in regard to even caring about security matters in their own backyards. Now, it is the Europeans, not Biden, who have had to step up and scramble around knowing that there is a threat on the horizon but the Americans are not in a position to lead. Biden has been in office for a year and has not even posted an ambassador to the Ukraine nor did he care. Now his handlers and the Europeans are scrambling around trying to get their shiite together. Germany was allowed to be played by Putin and showed clear weakness in the coalition was allowed to go on too long. Now that that has been tamped down, the frigging Italians have met with Putin and are now openly saying that they dont think that sanctions on energy should be part of the mix. Not helpful. Not so sure what you are beating your chest about. Biden's election was to put down a welcome mat for Putin's move. Done. Then Joe said a small incursion could be okay. You sound like you are positioning yourself that Joe did a hell of a job if you can overlook the fact that he set the stage for Putin and if Ukraine or part of it is lost to Russia, well then, "Hell of a job Brownie." Just as AFG was an extraordinary success if you can overlook the fact that it was one of the biggest military blunders in American history. NOT.
National security council meeting, not sure that Treasury has a standing seat but it’s interesting to see Yellen at the table. If Russia invades Treasurycwill be playing a key roll:
