Not since the Russians got their asses kicked in the first round of the invasion but Moldova is has to now sure up its defenses as Russia moves in the south. If you don’t understand Moldova is on the menu, you really don’t understand what is going on with Russia.
Things are getting rowdy in Transnistria/sp - which is an autonomous part of Moldova, mostly Russians and not really considered by the Russians to be part of Moldova. Russia is trying to juice them up to be a problem for Ukraine. There have been attacks on Russian FSB officies there that some/most people believe are false flag attacks to get the local Russians foaming at the mouth. It is part of Vlad's world view that if you speak Russian, he owns you. You know it is like living in the northern quarter of the State of Maine where most people speak French. That means that Quebec can just come in and start shelling your village and reducing it to rubble to liberate you. Thank you Quebec. OR NOT.
Ukraine: Russia says it is 'engaged in war' with NATO and tells the West to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine So, let me get this straight. We are now 62 days into Russia's war against NATO. Russia: 20 000 dead, 3 000 vehicles destroyed. NATO: Has not started fighting.
Russia targeting Western weapons shipments in Ukraine as Donbas assault begins "The fight for Donbas will be won or lost primarily on logistics," a former Pentagon official said. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/04/25/russia-western-weapons-shipments-ukraine-donbas-00027663
My never-humble view would be that the donbas will be won or lost primarily on logistics AFTER THE FIRST MONTH OR SO. The first month will be won or lost on artillery. They brought plenty with them and plenty of ammo with them and they know how to use it. After that, all their usual re-supply problems will haunt them bigtime. Along with poor leadership and untrained soldiers. And it would only take a few missiles to take out some of the railroad bridges supplying the Russians in the donbass and their usual re-supply problems will get worse. The Ukrainians have a fierce period of artillery that they will have to survive though. Otherwise, their ass is grass and Russia is a lawnmower. What images of Russian trucks say about its military’s struggles in Ukraine https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/14/europe/ukraine-war-russia-trucks-logistics-intl-hnk-ml/index.html
Tackling Moldova is effectively taking on Romania, they nearly unified, the official language is Romanian and they had the same flag except for Moldova's crest in the middle. If I recall dual citizenship is the norm as well and Moldova is constitutionally neutral so can't join Nato, like Ireland etc. and numerous others. Romania is NATO since 2004 so this will be interesting. I'm sure the no-fly zone will be reestablished there fast.
I guess we will see. If Russia goes and attacks Moldova with the intent to annex it, I'll gladly admit error. Tell me, when could you see yourself going "OK, maybe I was wrong about that"? Probably never, right? Can I ask who else is on the menu besides Moldova? Or is that top secret?
