Britain said on Tuesday it planned to revoke the Moscow Stock Exchange's (MOEX) status as a recognised stock exchange in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Russia and China threaten 'tectonic shift' in world economy, IMF warns There are fears China and Russia could create a financial system to rival the West after tough sanctions were imposed on Moscow. The West has ejected Russian banks from the Swift global payments messaging system and China’s UnionPay has stepped in to help Moscow after Visa and Mastercard suspended operations in the country. Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas, IMF chief economist, said: “The war also increases the risk of a more permanent fragmentation of the world economy into geopolitical blocks with distinct technology standards, cross-border payment systems, and reserve currencies.” He said this “tectonic shift” would carry huge economic consequences and is a major challenge to “the rules-based framework that has governed international and economic relations for the last 75 years.” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/busines...isks-fragmenting-wake-russia-ukraine-war-imf/ WELCOME TO THE NEW WORLD COMRADES, GOODBYE UNCLE SAM!
If people would stop demanding the cheapest manufacturing and move it to somewhere else it will take a lot of power away from China and Russia in the global economy. If shit were made in Europe, U.S. and Latin America we would have had far less of a logsitics issue and shock to the global economy but no one wants to pay U.S. and European costs or deal with Latin America...
Rapidly surging automation will change that picture a bit over time. Of course that creates other issues too so there is that.
Mercenary scum beginning to show up. Some idiots argue that the west is bringing in foreigners too, but let's just say they are not there for the money. They are lucky to get a rifle. Russia loves these mercenaries because they don't count them amongst their dead and they do not go back to Russian villages in a body bag. No mamma or high school friend in Russia will be mourning over their body. Y'all know the Ruskies sign em up for a certain period and withhold their pay until the end. Then when they are killed, they just declare them as deserters, unless you think they send a big check back to their family in Syria. And even if that were their intent, let's just say that money gets lost to corruption between the Ruskie paymasters and the Syrian contacts. One time years ago I read report about how rubber plantation owners would recruit hundreds of indigenous workers and withhold pay until they took them back down the river at the end of the season or whenever and then just shoot all of them and toss them in the river on the way back- and keep their pay. Pretty sad, really. That is how the Ruskies will treat these mercenaries. There are experienced butchers in their ranks but unfortunately their are kids who just want to send a few bucks back home to Syria. Sucks to be them. But sucks to be Ukrainian too. If you play on Team Putin, you need to surrender or be killed. I do think that the Ukrainians are outgunned in the artillery department and I have been upfront about how I think that is something that they will need to fear bigtime. Not sure about these mercenaries. The Ukrainians are with it a bit more than they are, experienced now, have some American training and back-up, and on their home turf. Couple that with what was said in another article that I posted a while back that said that these mercenaries were complaining because they were recruited - often anyway- by telling them that they would just serve as security forces to hold occupied towns and not as front line combat. Yeh, the Ukrainians got problems but these mercenary guys are going to die by the truckloads. And as this article points out, they are not bringing any equipment with them.
