In Olkhovka, near Kharkov, Ukrainians found this:

"Своих не бросаем" - "Leave no man behind" right? But at least Putin's government saves $100K on each one. MIAs' families do not get paid.

You want real time verified information while the war is on? Bucha killings were mass executions, plenty of evidence to that. Plenty of organizations have confirmed that this indeed happen including civilians on ground.

So Putin did lie about the genocide as you quickly change the direction oif the discussion away from the genocide. Nazis were killing Russian in Donbass, that was the reason to invade Ukraine.
And all Russian idiots believe anything Putin tells even without any proof. I say "idiots" as there are many smart Russians who know that Putin is telling fake news. I know things from friends and family of my wife who live in Russia and Crimea. They use VPN and can see what is forbidden to watch in Russia.

  5. I would have to go back and look at my posts but I have no recollection of the the "justification to do what we want" piece. I was just pointing out that the well worn analogy to Cuba Missile Crisis is a chesnut that everyone seems to be using these days if they are following certain scripts, and I reject the merit of that analogy totally.

First of all, as discussed, there is a tendency to present the Cuban Missile Crisis as a world disaster that the world had to face, and while that is true when viewed from one angle, it is also true that it was a MASSIVE success when viewed from another angle. It did not result in any mushroom clouds, any dead soldiers, and body parts of blown up children in the streets. There was no love between the Americans and the Soviets but is a textbook case of how -despite differences- solutions can be found if the conflict is not being used just to work out centuries old agenda's and the megalomania of a nutcase. The Soviets backed down in Cuba and the Americans backed down on the placement of missiles in Turkey. Boom. done.

This type of deal has never been and never will be possible with Ukraine because it is a trick process. Ukrainians, Americans, Nato etc can do or say whatever they want but Putin wants Ukraine - period. The Soviets did not want Cuba. They just had a limited use for it so were flexible on issues that arose there.

Putin's excuses about messing with Ukraine are and always have been a shell game. You satisfy him on one argument and he will switch to another, and believe me he has many others. You refrain with the placement of Nato troops because Nato is the problem, and then he argues that Ukraine is a threat because it is westward leaning and wants to join. The EU. He argues- as he did in his speech- that Nato has made permanent bases out of temporary forward bases that had previous just been used for rotational training- and that is in fact true- but he conveniently leaves out the fact that Nato did that after he seized Crimea and Russian troops were moving into and fighting in the Donbass.

Then Vlad goes into a long rap in his speech about how Ukraine has never been sovereign and has always been part of Russia. Much to my surprise he even lashed out hard against the Soviets and Bolcheviks for giving separate status to them along with the West. The point being again, it is all a ruse and trick process, he doesn't even recognize them as being not-Russia, and not part of Russia so what are your chances of satisfying him on that. Ukraine and Russia have already been at war for eight years plus.

Until Putin descended into becoming the village idiot last six weeks ago- or whatever- he was still trying to become Peter the Great and working a centuries long destiny- in his mind- to restore the Ukraine and the glory of Russia.
There just was not all of that going on with the Cuban Missile Crisis. Cuba was just one more of their little shit-hole outposts around the world where he want to place some missiles and that was not the hill they wanted to die on, or the Americans either.

As I said above, in difficult times- which are in now- such an outcome could easily be viewed as a TOTAL success. This is not even remotely analogous to the atmospherics around the Ukraine conflict. Putin has - in my country boy mind- demonstrated beyond dispute that he is willing to totally destroy Russia and Ukraine to accomplish shiite that is hard-wired in his brain. He may win or he may be defeated or most likely backed down to Plan C, D, E, or F. I don't know. But it will never be, never could be, anything like the Cuban Missile Crisis. Putin came to table loaded with centuries long baggage and goals.

    Like that for me.

Master Putin knows that, but he knows that they have to deny everything. Pity for them that satellite pictures showed the bodies lying in the streets already weeks before the Russians left Bucha.

Not just satellite pictures. Drone footage as well. Multiple verifications. As well as eyewitness accounts.

The good thing is, Ukrainians know, by name, the perpetrators of this and other massacres. They will not forget and will get to them.

I was just chatting with my Romanian friend fighting in Ukraine and he tells me that the desertion rate among Russian troops is enormous which is a big part of their troop losses. This new asylum clearance should have been addressed a long time ago. They need to be interviewed as part of an official process, right now many are melting into Western Europe. Psych evaluations would not hurt..

  9. You know- and this is somewhat of a sad commentary for me- you see all of those Russian kids/troops being captured- like the video the other day showing the captured Russian having a bite to eat and talking to his mom on the cellphone. You think- good- give the kid something to eat and get him sidelined out of that mess and squirreled away until the war is over.

But now, as the war goes on- and this is where the sad part comes in- I squint at some of these innocent kids and think- "yeh, well, you could very easily be one of the soldiers who killed and raped the kids in the town nearby."

    Not pretty.
