It has the possible vibe now of self-saboutage by anti-Putin Russians and better to say Ukraine did it.
Very interesting take on the de-Christianizing of Russia and building up of a cult centered on the victory of WWII.
I also think it might be a Russian oops ya mean the border is over there, because why would they hit a fuel depot when there are having major problems keeping their tanks and other vehicles fueled.
Yes, they know they are lambs being led to the slaughter by Putin because Putin will keep going until Russia is another Afghanistan, just like the rag heads who didn't know when to stop.
It is interesting that Belgorod also had a recent ammo dump explosion that the Russians tried to blame on the Ukrainians. But it appears further evidence focused on a Russian soldier deliberately starting a fire that led to the ammo dump explosion. All of this is not very clear in the fog of war.
Oh, I would be inclined to frame it as the "Putinizng of Christianity" rather than de-Christianizing. More precisely, Russia continues to de-Christianize but Putin is messing with the remaining faithful bigtime. It is a large topic, but just in general Putin - not so far back- developed new interest in the Orthodox Church from his boyhood days- his mother was Orthodox. So Putin, being Putin has seized upon it and weaponized it as a way to re-Russify Russia's glory days. His critics argue that he has militarized the church. It's a pretty sizeable issue in Russia right now. Krill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church has sided with Putin on the war and used the church to legitimize it. So now - not only has be pitted Ukraine against Russia but he has pitted Russian Orthodox against Russian Orthodox over the war. Wayy to go, once again Vlad. That bit about making a cult of WW2 is not wrong though. In fact Putin mixes that right in with the church. He built- with a state money- a massive frigging Orthodox Church and dedicated it to the victory of world war 2 and made it the official church of the military. Well the church did technically, but as discussed, Putin owns the church head now, as in Soviet times and the church dedicated it to the military. A real beast architecturally and says it all. Yeh, it is not either/or for Vlad. Roll the church and WW2 right in together. This comes after recently- but before the war- maybe two years ago or so- the Ukrainian Orthodox churches (many anyway) split from the Moscow jurisdiction over these types of matters and joined with and under the Orthodox Patriarch in Constantinople. Ouch. Other little things that piss off the Orthodox there is that Kviev is more or less the Jerusalem of the Orthodox Church and is 700 or so years older than Moscow. Trying to reduce it to rubble is not the smartest and popular way to show respect for that most traditional and historic of Russian sites. What a mess. Interesting little development here. I would like to know the backstory on this at some point. I would not be surprised a bit if the Americans or some Nato or Isreali types tapped into some communications from these generals and passed it along to Zelensky. He is pissed. If only we got rid of our generals as fast when they become proven losers or more helpful to the enemy than to us. And since when has Ukraine become a land of honour, decency and democracy? It's just a dream that some Ukrainians share, just like some Russians do. For the most part, both countries have traditional corruption that is deeply rooted in their mentality. So please, do me a favour Gary and stop posting childish crap comparing the two as if they were apples and oranges. It is clear, that Western propaganda is in total control of your mind, you should be thankful to the Russians for saving your ass from the Nazis in 1940s, as there would have been no chance in hell the English would have managed by themselves, most likely, your name now would be Günter.
Sorry Master Wumao, it's just that we hosted scores of Ukrainian children from Chernobyl area etc. every year for 25 years. As thousands of other families across western Europe hosted kids. Did they tell you about that relationship in your Tencent school?
