It appears that they are lumping Taiwan in with China. First let's take a look at some information about the semi-conductor industry in Taiwan. "Taiwan is the unmatched leader of the global semiconductor industry with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) alone accounting for more than 50% of the global market. In 2020, the sector accounted for US$115 billion in output." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semiconductor_industry_in_Taiwan Taiwan and TSMC have joined the sanctions against China cutting off all shipments of semiconductors. While there are still semi-conductor fabrication plants in China which can (and will) provide semiconductors for automotive purposes -- the overall supply available to Russia has been cut significantly due to sanctions. The chips used in many vehicles require industrial temperature range and can usually for fabricated in plants using older technology -- it does not require the latest & greatest fab technology for relatively non-complex chips used in vehicles (when compared to the latest computers, etc.). Some of the chips used in weapons systems may be different (more complex) however.
Its ridiculous, Tree. One can't even ask questions in a polite manner without immediately being called names and slandered, even when one tries honestly. Any deviation from the main stream narrative gets you labeled as a Kremlin lover. For the record, I'm an American citizen. Happy to prove who I am if someone wants to take the $10K bet. More than happy. My wife is from Moscow, but spent her first 11 years or so in the Ukraine. She was born a Ukrainian during the Soviet Union. We discuss the conflict all the time, and she has relatives in Dnipropetrovsk. We are both very much against the war, but we are also very familiar with the use of propaganda to push and sway people's opinions. So asking questions is not only my right, it is recommended. If all you do is label someone as soon as they have a different perspective, then you are the problem.
Thank you for an honest answer. Given the lack of Taiwan in the graph I had guessed they were lumping them in.
The only propaganda that should be worried about is the Russian propaganda. The Russians invaded a sovereign country under false pretenses. Ukraine is and was no threat to Russia, the uprising in the east of Ukraine is astroturf brought about by the Russians. There is no good reason for Russia to be in Ukraine killing people. The Russian propaganda is that the Ukrainians are neo nazis and a threat to Russian security, none of which is true. The Russians political efforts in Ukraine failed and they turned to war to achieve their goals. It’s simply what they do time after time after time. The Ukrainians chose to align with the west because it offers more hope for prosperity. Time after time they have said this and it is consistent and true. They see themselves very much in the image of Poland. Poland joining with the west brought prosperity, stability and peace. So if the Ukrainians are releasing videos to keep morale high while the fucking Russians are bombing their cities into dust then so be it. More please. If they are throwing accusations of dubious circumstance against the Russians then double down. Whatever it takes to get the Russians to stop killing Ukrainians is good. Whatever propaganda the Russians release to justify their killing of Ukrainians is bad. This isn’t a trigonometry problem that takes a whole lot to figure out - Russia is the bad guy here and until they are out of Ukraine the whole world should pile on them with whatever means they have.
I keep my eye on those Russian generals. https://www.independent.ie/world-ne...ney-general-natalia-poklonskaya-30120413.html
The intent from Russia's perspective is to make a perfectly clear point that Ukraine in the EU or Nato will never be tolerated. I thought every child understands that by now. We can disagree on the justification to insists on such thing (as we can argue about the same things certain other superpowers have equally done in the past). But the rational on Russia's side should be perfectly clear by now
