Putin is an authoritarian without checks and balances. The Iraq war serves as an example of how a dangerous mix of corruption and nationalism can lead to incredible mistakes - we need to learn from this. Afghanistan war was not a mistake. The only mistake was leaving too late. But again, we have limits on leadership and real checks, the Russians do not. Their only hope for getting rid of Putin is by murdering him or he dies.
