I guess Europe learned from the Chamberlain fiasco in 1938. They will no longer appease dictators.

Europe will increase military spending and assemble coalition to defend Ukraine

European Countries Pledge More Support for Ukraine
Declaring that “we are at a crossroads in history,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britain said that European countries would increase their military spending and assemble a coalition to defend Ukraine.

The EU’s €2 trillion budget (spread over a 7-year period, e.g., 2021-2027) is mainly allocated to the following areas:

    1. Cohesion & Regional Development (~30-35%)
    • Helps poorer regions catch up economically.
    • Supports job creation and economic growth.
    • Funds infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, and digitalization.
    2. Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) (~30%)
    • Direct payments to farmers.
    • Supports rural development and food security.
    • Encourages sustainable farming practices.
    3. Research, Innovation & Digitalization (~10-15%)
    • Funds programs like Horizon Europe (scientific research).
    • Supports digital transformation and AI development.
    4. Climate & Environment (~10%)
    • Green Deal initiatives to cut carbon emissions.
    • Investments in renewable energy and biodiversity.
    5. Security, Migration & Border Control (~5-7%)
    • Funding for Frontex (border security).
    • Support for refugees and asylum seekers.
    • Counterterrorism efforts.
    6. External Aid & Global Partnerships (~5-7%)
    • Humanitarian aid outside the EU.
    • Development assistance for Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
    7. Administrative Costs (~6%)
    • Salaries for EU institutions (Parliament, Commission, Court of Justice).
    • Operational costs of EU agencies.

    **************************************************************************************
Cut the hell out 1, 3 (except keep the funding for A.I research), 4, 6 (maybe) and then you got 1,5 Trillion Euros ~ and still EU wouldn't feel it that much, yet it would make russias annual GDP.

Spend it all on militarization and providing weapons to Ukraine and watch how all of a sudden putin goes silent and offers to retreat.

wow, seems somebody teacher was away their entire time at school

75% of budget to militarization? just to get ukraine nuked and start ww3?

and btw it's over 7 years so like 200 bln per year which will be 3 times below Russian military budget by PPP
Also likely EU will collapse with those kind of cuts within 6 months

    genius plan

no wonder russia wins war against such planners

Recognize U.S. defense spending is focused across the entire world, not only on NATO countries. The proper question to ask is "how much of U.S. Defense spending involves the defense of NATO countries in Europe". When viewed from this perspective the defense spending of NATO European countries involving expenditures on European soil greatly outstrip the contributions from the U.S.

But, of course, the article in ZeroHedge, the Kremlin propaganda outlet, somehow fails to mention this.
