I guess it's democratic slavery. During Vietnam many Americans fled to Canada and were later pardoned. I'm 100% against mandatory drafts. I'm also 100% against jury duty which is less dangerous, but still a form of temporary slavery.
Nice, a lot of new info to me. I think it's important to define whether one talks about the theoretical or practical limits. The former is just a simplified numbers exercise. But it's of course a ridiculous notion that every single adult male could be sent to become a casualty at the front and that everything else in the country would keep working.
On the whole: depends on your perspective to life. Do you have any obligations to the country you live in? Or do you run away at first sign of trouble. Guessing ET overall has an atypical leaning towards the latter, since my impression over the years is that there's a statistic tendency towards those with capital thinking of themselves as beholden to different standards than lower people. Especially since they are welcome in whatever country. Not implying anything about you personally to be clear. But I've seen this opinion a lot on ET. On a side note, many Russians that went out in the war did so out of a sense of duty, and it was presumably very hard for them to make an informed decision on whether to disobey that sense of duty. So I think it's important to specify whether we are talking about defense or actually going and invading someone else (with a hard case being the Afghanistan war post 9/11). I can agree the "slavery" is unfit for the latter case.
We live in a society. I think it makes sense for that society to have laws for the betterment of it. We give up certain freedoms for living with 8.2 billion other people. You don't get to hoard all the resources. Laws and taxes prevent this. However, being forced to do any job on the government's terms or you'll be locked up doesn't sit well with me. At that point I feel we're reducing people to pawns and not caring at all about an individual's personal utility. If I were Ukrainian, I know I would not stay and fight for Ukraine, because it's not necessary. There are other places to go and live life. So I guess preserving my country or cultural identity isn't important to me. They are some other human's creations and reflect a snapshot in time.
Thanks for elaborating. I just had a few beers leftover from last Friday so I will deliberate tomorrow, hah.
Any man who stays for 2 or 3 years in his country during the war and enjoys all of the privillages of freedom, that is provided & protected by those who die at the front, should not cry like a baby once his time has come. **************** Our prime minister & his wife, bought villa in Greece. Big deal you might say. But few weeks ago the date showed up. Same month when the war started. Ppl can smell cowards miles away. Zelensky stood.
Cashmere!!!! It looks like you guys are back-pedaling the f out of Dodge. Is it true the Ukrainian troops have breached the Russian border?! It's not too late to get your sister out btw. Your mom.... sorry... that old hoe is just gonna have to suck it up. I can only keep my eyes on one thief at a time.
Perfect morning on enemy's soil. Little note on translation, when it's translated to ,, fuc***s '' (pyder, same in Ukrainian and Russian), they're actually saying fags.
Russia destroyed a lot of Ukrainian drones tonight by colliding three airbases into them: https://kyivindependent.com/russia-claims-over-110-downed-drones/
