Assuming it is legitimate and not taken out of context: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription Yeah you go to 1 year in prison also here in Sweden for refusing to serve. It's up there with criticizing Zelensky for not holding elections whilst Russia is bombing Ukrainian cities with dozens of >= 500 kg warheads daily. Notice the clever inversion of reponsibility in that Twitter post. The guy getting arrested should be fighting at the front like the other men (the military guys arresting him likely have been at the front for at least a year now that people can get rotated out). But no, your right to f*ck your country in its time of need is to be held in high regard according to the likes of that author.
Forced conscription is a form of Slavery. If people don't want to fight for their country they should be allowed to leave the country and never return. But Ukranine is blocking men from leaving. If you dont have enough men to defeat an army that is much much bigger than yours, then the best course of action is to sign a peace deal and or surrender like the French did in world war 2. Ofcourse its the US Necons who are controlling the Puppet Ukranian goverment, they dont care one bit how many Ukranians die and will fight Russia to the last Ukranian.
So in your world, the bullies with the biggest army always wins. Sorry decent people with democratic ideals want nothing to do with these type of brutal dictators and will fight to be free.
But why not let the ones who don't want to fight leave the country and strip them of citizenship, if its a free country people should be allowed to emigrate (or leave as refugees) any time they want, why are they being violently press ganged?
Why don't you ask the same thing in Russia? While some Russians were able to flee the country early on -- it's not so easy anymore with Putin's conscription in place. Officials have imposed a law that prohibits conscripts from leaving the country once they receive their draft notice. There is plenty of available media showing Russian men being dragged off planes, captured at border crossings, and grabbed in raids of their workplaces in Russia. Not to mention the press-ganging of minorities in rural areas of Russia where they are rounded up and sent to military camps. Do I need to mention the fines and jail sentences in Russia for not showing up when you are sent a conscription notice plus the rules effectively de-banking men who refuse to be drafted.
Where are these videos, post them so we can shame the Russians as well as the Ukrainians. The fact you dont post any makes me think they don't exist. Plus even if Russia was doing the same as Ukraine, and you havent shown any proof, that is still not my concern, my tax dollars are funding Ukraine not Russia. And Ukraine are supposed to be the good guys while Russia is supposed to be the brutal dictatorship.
Serving in Ukrainian army is death sentence. Rotation happens only when units lose 90%. Then after week or two remaining 10% sent back with newly conscripted back. People arresting him spent exactly zero time at front lines and are corrupt as hell. Although I don't mind. Ukrainians wanted exactly that so that's what they got and deserve
Western intelligence agencies suggest Ukraine will face "large territorial losses" this year Ivanna Kostina, Roman Petrenko — Saturday, 25 May 2024 https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/05/25/7457609/ War zone in Ukraine. Photo: Screenshot from DeepState Map Western intelligence services believe that Ukraine will face "large" territorial losses by the end of the year. Source: Welt, citing German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, as reported by European Pravda Details: The article states that the "overall picture" for Ukraine at the moment looks bleak due to Russia's superiority. The intelligence assessment says Kyiv is not expected to be able to "seize the initiative" in 2024. By the end of the year, Ukraine is likely to suffer "significantly greater territorial losses" than it already had since January. The Russians are relying on artillery much more heavily than the Ukrainians, and above all, Russia can "more than compensate" for its losses. Kyiv, on the other hand, is unable to call up enough new soldiers "to compensate for losses and create reserves". The new conscription rules "will have an impact only in late summer", as recruits must first undergo training. This assessment attributed the expected loss of territory by Ukraine to the current "defensive orientation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the resulting prolongation of fighting". Ukraine wants to "preserve personnel" and is currently "buying time by ceding territory". Kyiv hopes this will give it "time to mobilise and restore its defence industrial base (DIB). However, Russia's airstrikes on Ukraine's DIB could become a problem. Roderich Kiesewetter, a member of the opposition Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands (CDU or Christian Democratic Union of Germany) party and Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Oversight of the Intelligence Services, confirmed that Ukraine has problems with ammunition and conscription. However, the official further said that "pessimistic reports about the situation are being spread", apparently with the aim of "showing that the situation is hopeless and that military support no longer makes sense". The aim is to "subtly but brutally" pressure Kyiv to "cede territory". Kiesewetter commented on this intelligence assessment, saying that Ukraine can "continue to win", but "every delay in support" from Germany and other countries will make it more difficult and expensive. Ralf Stegner, a member of Germany's ruling Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands (SPD or Social Democratic Party) and the oversight committee, said, however, that "in essence," the intelligence services' assessment was correct and "in line with what I know". Stegner said Ukraine's failed offensive last year showed that "we can and should prevent Ukraine's defeat, but we cannot ensure its victory". Anyone who continues to demand that "weapon A be delivered faster, and weapon B be delivered in even greater quantities" is, in his opinion, chasing illusions. "Constantly increasing the dose when the medicine does not work is not convincing," the lawmaker added. He believes that the narrative of the hopelessness of Ukraine's resistance can only be overcome when Chancellor Olaf Scholz's slogan that Ukraine will be helped "as long as it takes" is replaced by an "all-inclusive" approach. For example, Ukraine should be allowed to use Western weapons to attack Russian production sites, warehouses and transshipment points in Russia itself. Stegner added that red lines should disappear, and arms production should be accelerated. Background: Anton Hofreiter, a politician from the German Green Party, called for no longer preventing Ukraine from attacking Russian territory with Western weapons. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes it is high time for some allies to reconsider restrictions on the use of weapons provided to Ukraine against targets in Russia.
