The Ukrainians are playing three dimensional chess with the Ruskies. Their primary interest is in taking out Sevastopol, Belgorod and oil refineries deep in Russia. But by continuing to threaten the Kerch Bridge they force Vlad to keep sending more and more air defense there- which only makes the other targets more vulnerable because there is not enough defense systems to cover all the other targets. And of course, it could also result in the bridge coming down, if Vlad decides to respond to civilian demand for more defense in Belgorod. The reality is that no Russian military vehicles/equipment have cross the bridge for several weeks so they do not need to take it down for military logistics reasons. They have already achieved that. But it forces Vlad to stay awake at night wondering when it will come down. Continuing to attack Sevastopol has worked out well for the Ukrainians. The Russians have lost a third of their fleet and they have place to base and repair the others now. Plus, starting right at the beginning of the war, Sevastopol was supposed to be the base for assaulting and doing an amphibious landing at Odessa. Not going well. The Moskva made a quick run to check things out and shell Odessa just to get things going. That did go well either. ‘No choice’: Ukraine eyes Kerch bridge in Crimea for drone attack Third attack on Kerch bridge between Russia and occupied Crimea ‘inevitable’, say Ukraine’s military intelligence. “We will do it in the first half of 2024,” one official told the Guardian, adding that Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the main directorate of intelligence, already had “most of the means to carry out this goal”. He was following a plan approved by Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, to “minimise” Russia’s naval presence in the Black Sea. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/03/ukraine-eyes-kerch-bridge-crimea-drone-attack

Its over: “There’s nothing that can help Ukraine now" Ukraine is at great risk of its front lines collapsing According to high-ranking Ukrainian officers, the military picture is grim and Russian generals could find success wherever they decide to focus their upcoming offensive. Ukrainian military officers who served under General Valery Zaluzhny — the commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s armed forces until he was replaced in February The officers said there’s a great risk of the front lines collapsing wherever Russian generals decide to focus their offensive. Moreover, thanks to a much greater weight in numbers and the guided aerial bombs that have been smashing Ukrainian positions for weeks now, Russia will likely be able to “penetrate the front line and to crash it in some parts,” they said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak freely. “There’s nothing that can help Ukraine now because there are no serious technologies able to compensate Ukraine for the large mass of troops Russia is likely to hurl at us. We don’t have those technologies, and the West doesn’t have them as well in sufficient numbers,” one of the top-ranking military sources told POLITICO. https://www.politico.eu/article/ukraine-great-risk-front-line-collapse-war-russia/
