  2. Everyone knows that Russia is/was shipping a lot of oil despite the sanctions so I am not going to argue against that.

Nevertheless, Putin is in sort of a bad spot in recent weeks. First of all, Russia has a serious gasoline shortage and the locals are getting restless. Not what Vlad wanted right before the election. So he dealt with it by banning the export of gasoline which left more for domestic consumption. Except it also has the effect of eliminating export income.

Second, India was their major buyer of Russian oil and now India has brought that to a screeching halt. Some said it was due to India/Russia having rupee/ruble conversion and payment problems. But others say that it simply has to do with the price of russian oil. Russian oil (or many grades anyway) is pretty crappy. The only way that india can use it is to refine it more in India. That worked okay when the price was at its lowest. Not so anymore.

Third, lots and lots and lots of alternatives to Russian gas have been located and are being developed. Vlad knows he will never get back to pre-war dependency.

So things are kind of sucky for him of late. It is hard to tell from the data because the press reports on the gross import dollars that sometimes increase. Problem is the profit margin is very thin with all the discounts.

Anyway. Most likely Vlad will win re-election today. Heck of job with your campaign Brownie.

Ukraine faces ammunition crisis as air defence missiles dwindle

Ukraine is running so low on ammunition that it will run out of air defence missiles to defend its cities by the end of the month, according to reports. Supplies of missiles defending cities such as Odesa - where 21 people were killed on Friday - are dwindling fast, according to Ukrainian sources quoted by The Washington Post.

Russian officials have said that they know Ukraine is running out of ammunition and have decided that this is the time to strike. Along the frontlines in Ukraine’s Donbas, Moscow’s forces have continued to push back and outgunned Ukrainian forces who have complained of dwindling stocks of shells.
