From your link in the Tweet.. EU member states refuse to hand over 'Mig' fighter jets to Ukraine Boasts that the EU would supply the Ukrainian army with fighter jets appear to have come to nothing after member states refused to hand over the "Mig" aircraft, reportsJames Crisp. Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief, said yesterday that the EU would supply the planes to try and prevent Russian air superiority. But Politico reported that Bulgaria and Poland, the two countries with Migs that Ukrainian pilots know how to fly, refused the request. Bulgaria did not have enough fighter jets to guard its own airspace, and Poland was also not willing to supply the aircraft. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-n...test-news-war-putin-zelensky-weapons-updates/

40 mile long convoy heading towards Kyiv. That's a line of sitting ducks that could easily be droned out of existence. I'm for doing it.
Looks like Russia is preparing the large-scale assault on Kyiv... Russian military convoy near Kyiv is more than 40 miles long, according to satellite images https://www.cnn.com/europe/live-news/ukraine-russia-news-02-28-22/index.html New satellite images from Maxar Technologies show the Russian military convoy that has reached the outskirts of Kyiv is even longer than it previously measured. Maxar said late Monday the convoy is more than 40 miles long. Earlier Monday, Maxar said the convoy took up roughly 17 miles of roadway. Maxar told CNN earlier Monday the large military convoy consisted of armored vehicles, tanks, towed artillery and other logistical vehicles. Maxar attributed the updated convoy length to additional satellite imagery they collected and analyzed. Maxar said data and imagery taken Monday shows the convoy stretches from the Antonov airbase — about 17 miles from Kyiv's city center — to just north of Pribyrsk, Ukraine. To put a point on how far away Pribyrsk is from the Ukrainian capital, the small town is closer to the Ukraine-Belarus border and the failed nuclear reactor at Chernobyl than to Kyiv. The company noted it saw plumes of smoke rising from a number of homes and buildings north and northwest of Ivankiv, near the roads where the convoy is traveling. At this time, it's unclear what has caused the plumes of smoke. According to Maxar, in some areas the roadways are so choked with military vehicles it's actually causing traffic jams. On Sunday, Maxar had measured the convoy — then near Ivankiv, Ukraine — at roughly 3.5 miles long.
That convoy is Yuge, but obviously positioned based on the assumption that there will not be any air power anytime soon. Otherwise they would just be sitting ducks to be ripped from head to arsehole - 40 miles long. I remember back in the first gulf war when the Iraquis had these huge long convoys like that when they were retreating from Kuwait, and the American air power just ripped the shiite out of them like it was a buffet line. Unfortunately, does not look like that air power is coming soon enough, if at all. I am open to being surprised but the timing is not good.
I Kyiv is a big city and it will take a lot to encircle it. That convoy is big but so is Kyiv. Although I’m not sure of the fighting force the Ukrainians actually have there. The fact that that have to is a testament to how strongly Kyiv has been defended. There is a river running through Kiev and the Capitol complex is on the Belarusian side of the river, I’m sure the Ukrainians are planning a retreat across that river if this wave breaks through. This may shape up to be a hell of a battle. The Ukrainians in Kyiv are already battle tested between Russian paratroopers, spegnaz forces, regular forces and conscripts the Ukrainians have stood up up to the Russians well. This wave though, I wonder if the Belarusians will lead the way in with what’s left of the Chechens. They have to be in better shape than the Russian forces. Tough days but there are some pluses for the Ukrainians with supply lines open and the Ukrainians know and have fought in the terrain already and with time to prepare they can put up a strong fight.
