  1. The vote is in in Turkey.

The question is whether the fix is in yet.

And yes, this comment belongs in the Russia thread.

There is a reason for that.

  2. Russians just lost two colonels at Bakhmut.

Putin whipping them pretty hard and telling them to get out front and do the deed.

Meanwhile, some of them are retreating.

Not a good combination for the ones who are still there.

"died during evacuation." Heh, who knows? They probably shot them for trying to retreat.

Russia says 2 commanders killed in fighting in eastern Ukraine

Two senior Russian military officers have been killed in eastern Ukraine, Moscow’s Ministry of Defense said on Sunday, as Kyiv pledged its long-awaited counteroffensive will liberate occupied areas of Ukraine.

Russian officials claimed in a statement issued on Sunday that they were repelling Ukrainian attacks around the contested town of Bakhmut. But they conceded that top army leaders had been among the casualties in their own ranks.

“The commander of the 4th motorized rifle brigade, Colonel Vyacheslav Makarov, personally led the battle from the front,” the ministry said. “While repulsing of a third attack, the brigade commander was seriously wounded and died during the evacuation from the battlefield.”

In addition, the deputy commander of the army corps, Colonel Yevgeny Brovko, was also killed, the ministry said.

More than that. From what I read - 4 colonels. 20 other officers. Basically the whole HQ wiped out.

  6. That could be good too.

    Very good.

Just as a piece of trivia, the mud season has been hanging on in Ukraine but I read in an article that it has been very hot there the last couple days so the remaining mud must be coming to a screeching halt or will soon. And the Ukrainains have all those armored personnel carriers now. No doubt the Ukrainians are beginning to make blitzkrieg strikes with them as the mud lets up. Ditto with the tanks.

  9. Yeh. I went to the map too.

The Russian are up to no good piling ammo over there.

I cannot immediately understand how they got it there without meeting Ukrainian resistance that far west.

Must be a Ukrainian storage that got hit by the Russian rockets, although, i have no clue what happened. Maybe it's different, since in Russia, it's always due smoking etc.
