Feb 28 (Reuters) - Lessors are set to terminate hundreds of aircraft leases with Russian airlines following Western sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine that require the contracts be cancelled.

Russian companies have 980 passenger jets in service, of which 777 are leased, according to analytics firm Cirium. Of these, two-thirds, or 515 jets, with an estimated market value of about $10 billion, are rented from foreign firms in the mainly Ireland-based industry.

  4. The aggressor will always use "peace talks" to reorganize, reposition, resupply their troops. When they're talking peace, prepare to see escalation of the assault.

  5. The Ruskies are starting to get extra ugly now that they have brought a lot of their artillery in.

It has been much discussed that if the ruskies have to go house to house and do urban fighting that it will be a nightmare for them. True that.

However, the history of Russian fighting in Chechnya and other places is that they avoid that just by using the artillery and carpet bombing to level the urban areas without having to go house to house or eyeball to eyeball.

I hope they all rot in hell.

We have to be careful with this stuff but what I will say is that China is watching the west’s reaction to Ukraine very closely as it may relate to Taiwan.

  7. A Look Back — How Long Did it Take the Nazis to Capture Ukraine?

While it took the Nazis almost two months to surround Kiev, Putin’s troops appear to have done it in four days. Remains to be seen whether this will be a prolonged war of attrition and suffering or if a political solution will become tenable once Kiev is sealed.

One final, terrible note. Three days after securing the Kiev region the Nazis herded almost 34,000 Jewish men, women and children into the Babi Yar ravine in Kiev. This marked the first mass extermination of Jews as part of Hitler’s Final Solution.

Day 5 Kyiv still stand! Slava Ukraine!

Putin is fully in the shit this morning. Economic advisers look worse than his intelligence guy. Rubles are rubble, we have ceased all transactions with Russia before they could grab the goods, Russia’s stock market is closed.

How goes your day, Vlad? What’s that we can’t hear you because you’re 50 fucking feet away again! (Below photo is from this morning’s economic meeting Putin had.)

So they say Kharkiv sustained some indiscriminate shelling last night and reports are that Kharkiv is running low on food stuffs for the citizenry. I read one piece that there is a request for evacuation of non combatants. This would open the door for mass bombings and shelling.

The biggest is mystery going on right now is the supply lines the Ukrainians have going. Russia’s failure to establish air superiority is probably the most mind boggling thing of this war.
