Russia gold market flood a few years ago

  1. I'm doing some research on the gold market and was hoping somebody had some links or something bookmarked that talked about when, a few years ago, Russia was flooding the gold market causing prices top drop? (e.g., talking about the amount that entered the market, etc....)

I've tried googling, but somehow havn't come up with much

Between 85-91 they sold a lot of gold to cover their deficit. Is this the time period you are referring to or are you talking about the currency crisis of 98?

This might be of some use:

  3. I was talking with a friend about it and he mentioned 'in the last several years'.

So I would assume it was sometime around 97-2002ish. I'm aware of the debt default in 98, don't think it has anything to do with gold.

I may have to ask him to clarify the time-period because 85-91 is more than 'a few' years ago, heh.
