  1. LTCM & the US Taxpayer...

The former already does not exist because of it.

It appears that the fear mongering of Russia defaulting on non ruble denominated bonds is disproportionate relative to the relatively small amount of foreign currency denominated debt issued by Russia. Blackrock looks to lose 17bln on Russian investments. That's the firm that has its fingers in lots of emerging markets and relative to its large balance sheets and portfolio 17bln is peanuts. The reason US equity markets are not crashing is precisely because the risk is quite contained regarding Russia, at least that is how the market perceives the current risk.

You don't get it do you :)

You're correct, Russian default will not hurt the West that much. Because Russia is not much, economically. But Russian default will definitely hurt Russia. A lot. Good. QED.

And yet Russia is not relenting one inch from its Ukraine plans. While we have sky high oil prices and Europe suffers from shortfalls of energy supplies. What's your point? The goal of us in the West was to punish Russia for its transgressions. It does not work much so far. Russia's economy is contracting but it's large enough with plenty of food supplies and energy supplies that it can survive especially with the help of China. If you truly believe China holds back regarding Russia then you are simply wrong. The amount of trade between China and Russia these days is staggering, what you see on TV in the West is China pretending to bend to the Wests demands to isolate Russia. China is lying as it has Lied about fulfilling WTO obligations, Hong Kong, Taiwan for decades now. Don't be fooled by what CNBC and CNN is feeding you

You continue Russian propaganda, it's like you're being spoon fed directly from Moscow.

Yes, Russia is hurting. No, it has not hit bottom yet. The bottom is far FAR below. It's going to get there.

I only posted facts not propaganda. Not sure why you keep on attacking me. I am not pro Russia but I am also not blindly believing what comes out of the mouth of the US administration and have not for a long time. That the Russian economy is reaching a point of bankruptcy is purely your opinion and is not grounded in any facts nor statistics. It's your hunch nothing else.

One day you are biased in believing there will be a full scale world War, the other day you believe this will be the end of Russia as we know it. Funny given the fact that Russia has existed a long time before even a single settler ever set foot on the North American continent. I guess Europeans and the rest of the world look at situations much more long term than North Americans. And with a lot less emotions and anger. I can't help you that you are so invested and perhaps you harbor a lot of anger to your country of ancestry (you mentioned your Russian background) perhaps because your life or the life of your ancestors was uprooted by a totalitarian regime. That often blindsides people like you and you are not open to the facts and long term geopolitical shifts anymore. I recommend to take your anger out of the equation and distance yourself more emotionally.

My last post to you on this topic in this thread as I don't see you are interested in an honest discussion that is based on facts and realities but on wishful thinking wishing for Russia's destruction. Of course you will reply accusing me again as a Russian troll even though I have not a single connection to Russia or any Russian whatsoever.
