    Hi,

I am thinking of getting new server for a couple of users who want to access to the server in the our office and run their algorithms remotely from their location.

Both users are using 1 to 5 secs time frame strategies on about 15 instruments each.

We have choice of getting Xeon E5630 * 2 with 48GB RAM
    with
    1) one Dell PowerDdge R710 and make two VMs for those users.
    2) two Dell PowerEdge R610 and give one to each users.
    3) one Dell PowerEdge R610 and make two VMs.

I guess getting a single server for each user might be the best way.
But If one server can handle two users, we don't want to waste money on the machine that we don't need....

What do you guys think? Is running 1 sec time frame trading system on VM very slow ?

    Thanks
