Running more than one platform on same computer?

  1. "The Cloud" is a scam. All you are doing is remoting into someone elses' computer. It is generally considered slow and a hassle. If you are trying to trade manually you should be on a desktop with a fast connection.

  2. I assumed that was the case. I am currently setup as you describe but you hear "The Cloud" every 10 seconds and I was curious if there was something I was missin.

  3. It can be good for a few things - quite often the electric bills can get high in a home if you are running high-end computers + datastores.

It can put you in close proximity to an exchange or data feed and it allows the end-user to leverage cutting edge technology on the cheap.

I also rent out a fair amount of remote desktop sessions (monthly) to traders who just want an internet box up & running 24/7/365 so they can watch porn or keep AIM/email open without having to log in/out every day. They can access while on vacation, etc. and it extends the lifespan of their existing computer.

But to manually trade from a VM or "in the cloud" is not the best idea out there. Good for ATS, not good for manual.
