Rumours of China Selling Treasuries

  1. vague rumours of china selling us treasuries doing the rounds.

no significant story or source to pin it on but this rumour doing the rounds as we speak.

  2. What they don't tell you is where will the chinese invest this money?
They will certainly not hold devaluating cash, they have little experience to trade the energy markets; so likely they are investing in corporate bonds and stocks!
(with very conservative strategies, of course).

Would not they be simply moving to bonds denominated in other currencies? That seems to be their announced policy. We still have substantial debt to service and it looks as though rates will rise to accommodate that necessity. We will certainly try to inflate our way out of debt, but unfortunately not all our creditors are total fools. A shame it costs so damn much to kill people. Perhaps we can start yet another war. That can boost borrowing and goose our economy once again. In fact, maybe we can kill our way to prosperity. That message would make a great bumper sticker for the Republicans, wouldn't it?. I can see it now "In your heart, you know WAR is smart -- Vote Republican!"

  4. They are buying a lot of companies in Asia and Africa (mines, oil resources, etc.)
