Rumor

Discussion in 'Order Execution' started by mixer, Mar 7, 2003.

  1. Are you remote or an office trader....connection speed, direct line or internet...all of these matter and determine speed.

IMHO...be more concerned about learning to trade first and join a firm on those merits, otherwise a millisecond will not matter at all. You can have the fastest connection, top computer etc and NOT MAKE MONEY.

Remember, some traders still make money using a telephone.

    Welcome to the business!

  2. It's never happened when I've traded with Andover.
I feel Andover to be the fairest major firm in this business.

  3. i'd guess that everyone except the crowd (and a few choice off-floor movers and shakers) suffers at the hands of the specialists.

  4. Mixer,
When anyone of Andover's competitors use slander to get your business in a snide format - just exercise caveat emptor (buyer beware).

It's a fair question, and I'm glad you brought it up....Now, who is spreading this rumor? We have a right to know, since you are seeking answers.

    Thanks,

  6. First of all, is it even possible for the spec to identify Andover traders?

    Mixer,

Do you have an idea how many different specialist firms are on the NYSE floor?

That comment about delayed fills or trade throughs is BS at best. Obviously whoever you are talking to isn't reputable. My advice - stay away from them with a 10 foot pole.

  8. I've heard there down to 7 specialist firms or some small number like that. Of course, there's many more specialists. Any help?

    Thanks

They said traiding on ARCA will help a trader remain trading truly anonymously. They told me that each order has a code that says who it came from.

  10. so you are routing to the Pacific Exchange...since Arca and the Pacific Exchange have merged. Any firm that has direct access ~ has access to trade on Arca.
