I am continuously hearing about "rotational trading" going from short to long positions in financials and long to short in energy for example. I understand the premise of what it means - it is quite obvious. I have read articles about the speed in which it is taking place and how the hedge funds are causing the velocity. My question is, how does one know that is actually taking place? Is it just for the fact one sector rallies and one skids?
