Bending a knee to one of the two outlets for deep state leaks... hardly. Leaks, I remind you, which are almost always self serving and sometimes deceptive.
1. He has to deny it. He has to stall. This accusation is extremely serious. This is instant firing if true. This is a treason investigation if true. This is demand for a independent prosecutor to investigate a coup if true. This is get the independent prosecutor appointed immediately and squeeze Rosenstein under threat of treason prosecution... if true. If it is true Rosenstein also needs to be placed in witness protection for fear he may his life may be in danger. Sessions and Congress should have this set up by Monday. 2. Based on history, for the New York Times to go against a current deep state power player, there must be serious smoke and fire behind it or this is smoke screen for something even bigger. This is likely pre positioning... to protect someone or some group. Rosenstein went rogue is going to be the spin. As the story said... developing. I would say there is about a 60 percent chance an even bigger story is behind this.
Good point. I think they may be lining Rosenstein up to play the scapegoat. They know Trump and his base detest Rosenstein over the FISA warrant. So they set him up with a story that is sure to make Trump nuts, as it should really. Rosenstein was at least joking about wearing a wire to try to catch his president out. If you're Deputy AG, there are certain things you don't joke about. Committing treason would be one. So they toss Rosenstein off the back of the wagon, and they think everyone will be satisfied and forget about the FISA stuff and dossier.
Someone on the TV- not big screen- reported that sources allege that it was McCabe who wanted to record trump and that Rosenstein was pushing back against it by saying "so what do you want to do then, have me wired" as a way of pushing back at it as an outlandish idea. Of course, I have no frigging idea what happened. And I dont really need to know. I think it is just one more area where the rats are struggling to survive by blaming their buddies. And how can that be a bad thing??? Giddy-up!!!! And yes "sources allege" is always a crock alert, but it does stir the pot in ways that make the rats try to position themselves. Rosenstein knows that he is the consummate survivor. He is and has been the very epicenter of the swamp-at least the DOJ part of it but has always survived. He knows that Trump can't fire him without a heavy price so he has that to protect him. Where he is beginning to sweat though is that McCabe is struggling hard to avoid prosecution and will try to take both Comey and Rosenstein down if needed to protect himself. In addition, although he is protected from immediate firing by Trump, he also knows that after the election -possibly as late as the first of next year- Sessions will be gone, and the new AG will move Rosenstein out. So Mr. Smug Rosenstein continues to be smug as always. But he is also beginning to sweat more than ever. Note that I did not even mention the texts and emails that Trump just declassified. You think that will help or hurt Rosenstein? Those who used their brain to answer that question came up with the right answer. Those who got their answer in a signal from the Mothership- not so much. MORE TO COME.
Removal of the president via the 25th Amendment isn't a coup any more than conviction of the president for high crimes and misdemeanors is a coup. Discussing removal of the President via the 25th Amendment isn't treason anymore that discussing removal of the President via impeachment and conviction of high crimes and misdemeanors is treason. __________________ "When the President does it , it is not illegal." -- Richard Nixon "Water Boarding is not Torture. By your logic a President can never be removed for high crimes or misdemeanors since law enforcement/ DOJ officials discussing it is treason
There is a 25th amendment however it is treason for the people responsible for enacting it's provisions to do so? Nope.
