Ron Paul says healthcare not a right

  1. Look, lets not be naive here. Obama is not interested in the healthcare of America's citizens. This is a power grab. He and the other hacks are interested in one thing and one thing only............making government as big and as powerful, as fast as they possibly can. Gotta go.

  3. Judging by this post, and the way you choose to end your argument, it sounds as though you are more against Obama than you are of socialized healthcare. I suspect this fact has at the very least swayed your opinion.

    Nice debate in any case.

  5. That cuts both ways. If they want the law of the jungle then, we can do that.

  6. Citizen being the operative word. I'd be more willing to support a package that did not give heathcare to illegals or their children. If the current bill doesn't, as some claim, then it needs to be spelled out in no uncertain terms.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I have been blessed with overall good health but I'm no stranger to a doctor's office and I'm no spring chicken. Since I am self-employed I have to purchase my own HC. Someone is my family had a major health problem a few years ago and I had surgery a few years ago. My insurance premiums went through the roof after it was all said and done. Fortunately for me, the state I live in provides assistance for people who are considered "high risk." High risk is anyone who has a health history - heart disease, cancer, spine surgery, diabetes, etc - or anyone who is older than a spring chicken. If it weren't for the state program I would have had to go get a real job  All kidding aside, I would have gotten killed by my medical costs and I can guarantee the same thing will happen to just about all of you reading this. Hardly anyone gets to go through life without some sort of medical issue. Medical Insurance is designed for the young and the healthy. Once you get sick the insurance companies want nothing to do with you. They'll inform you of that with sky-high premiums that price you out of the market and God forbid you have an existing condition and go uninsured for more than 6 months. After 6-months, even if you get on a group plan, they are going to give you the middle finger with "pre-existing condition" written down the middle of it.

  8. Bullshit. That includes 12 million illegal immigrants, plus people who can afford insurance but choose not to buy it and people who are without insurance for less than 12 months as they switch jobs. The real figure is way lower than 20 million.

In a country of 300MM. You want to enslave 300MM people to the state in the name of a few people who can't afford health insurance predominantly because of government mandates and anti-competitive laws that are put on the books by our exalted legislators and drive up the costs for everybody.

V.I. Lenin named you correctly: useful idiot.

  9. That's BS and I think you know it.

Note what I persistently say: I don't mind reaching into my pocket and do so often. I don't even mind a PUBLICLY FUNDED option. What I mind is not government FUNDING healthcare for the truly needy, but government RUNNING all the health care.

Big difference. Seen it done both ways. BIG difference.
