    Last combat troops leave Iraq

U.S. brigade departs, but 50,000 noncombat troops will remain

KHABARI CROSSING, Kuwait | A line of heavily armored American military vehicles, their headlights twinkling in the pre-dawn desert, lumbered past the barbed wire and metal gates marking the border between Iraq and Kuwait early Thursday and rolled into history.

For the troops of the 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, it was a moment of relief fraught with symbolism but lightened by the whoops and cheers of soldiers one step closer to going home.

Seven years and five months after the U.S.-led invasion, the last American combat brigade was leaving Iraq, well ahead of President Obama’s Aug. 31 deadline for ending U.S. combat operations there.

  3. jem

    jem

maybe you are on LSD and dreaming of words which are not heard by rational observers.

The first clip. October 2007. The first thing I will do is end this war. I will bring our troops home.

he did not say combat troops

Question - does non combat mean... they will not be killed? Does it mean they are not in Iraq? Does it mean we are not spending money there?

Do you enjoy digesting the bullshit your socialist buddies force you to regurgitate?

The 50,000 troops there now are doing EXACTLY the same thing they were doing BEFORE the troop reduction. AND they're still dying while doing it.

How do I know you ask? Because my son and brother-in-law both have been there since the troop reduction.

  7. Doesn't mean that.We have 30,000 troops in S Korea. They are considered non combat troops, but they can be killed if North Korea attacks South Korea. They can fight to defend themselves and South Korea if S Korea is attacked .We are spending money to keep them there
