I already know Obama sucks out the ass a POTUS, so given your penchant for numbers the probabilities seem to favor Romney the more likely minor improvement. Romney also has both knowledge of and experience in business and economics. Obama has none, zero, zip, nada. Our biggest issue at hand appears to be the economy from where I sit.
I think this is spot on. Ryan is just the kind of guy Romney is comfortable with and with whom he has always been successful. He's as close to another Mormon as Romney could go. The positive spin is that Ryan represents an attempt to deal with the serious problems facing the country. He may be able to bring Wisconsin into the republican fold, and maybe Minnesota and Iowa too. The engatives are best illustrated by the unabashed glee on the democrat talking heads on the Sunday morning shows. The democrats don't give a crap about addressing the countries problems. They only care about winning, and they see Ryan as helong them in that objective. You see, there's a very good reason congress cannot tackle any of these big issues like the budget, Social Security or Medicare. Any solution hurts someone, and that means you immediately add those people to the opposition in the next election. It's the very reason the Founders drafted a Constitution that prohibited these types of programs. They knew once politicians started giving freebies to people using other peoples' money, the end was not in question, only the timing. I think Ryan was probably the worst possible pick. Portman would have brought Ohio, indesipensable to Republican victoy. Rubio would have brought equally indispensable Florida, whichis now probably lost. Chrisite would have energized the tciket and electrified independents. He would hav eput NJ inot play and helped in florida. Even Pawlenty could have some midwestern states and added a sense of adult seriousness to teh campaign. Ryan lacks stature and command presence. Hehas a weak, high-pitched voice, dyed hair and thin credentials. Service in the house cannot compare with being a governor or Senator. He comes across, at best, as a staff guy or policy wonk, not someone whocould credibly lead the country. Of course, compared to Obama, anyone seems presidential and capable, but voters cut him slack because of his race and the media narrative that he was somehow uniquely capable. I put this in the categry of another Romney unforced error. Of course, the party regulars are trying to put a brave face on it, but one senses them shaking their heads in private.
We're not voting for the next Gordon Geko, which Romney is more qualified for than Obama, we're voting for president, which Obama is more qualified and experienced.
And personally I'd like to have a President who has business experience, it's what we need - NOW. Bat shit crazy statement. Obama more qualified? He is STILL not even remotely qualified after 3 1/2 years of on the job training. Let alone more qualified.
LOL!!! Now ive heard it all, Obama is the least qualified president in U.S. history.... He hadnt even run so much as a lemonade stand before being elected president, he is so unqualified that even with 4 years of actually being president, Obama's resume is still weaker than Romney's.
I see that you are in more of a philosophical than combative mood this lunar cycle. So, Max, as libertarian who seems to swing left and right in an attempt to stay in the center, why do think Mittens chose Ryan? I think this pick was foisted upon him, I really really do.
Now THIS is the AAA that we know and love down here in the basement. We missed you man, welcome back.
Romney's being the CEO. His presentation of ideas was not getting traction, so he's asked his CFO to bring his pre-aligned perspective to the discussion.
Problem is that this CFO is whacked. And the opposition is going to beat Mittens all about the head and face with it.
I completely agree with AAA's political analysis. But, I hope he is wrong about the power of the man... and here is why. 1. Romney is about being competent and capable of fixing our programs and bring hope to our economic future. 2. Romney does not seem to want to run the type of ads we know would be interesting. 3. So during and after the convention he has to go on a full court press about how shitty Obama's economy is doing and he needs to explain Obama's future is even worse. With Obama our economic future is hopeless. 4. He now has Ryan... who explains that as well as any person in Washington. Ryan's credibility comes from his mastery of the subject. He crushes the opposition when they bring on the left's wacky math. Properly executed... this could be exactly what Romney needed. A one two punch. Romney gets on the T.V. and gets his message out. Romney will bring economic hope back to america instead of govt servitude. Then Ryan comes in right behind him crushing the lefts.. b.s. response. All I can say is Romney better lay out the plan... because they are not going to win on charm.
