I agree. If the choice is a Mormon or a Muslim sympathizer who they hate they will gladly vote for the Mormon.
In regards to polls having more democrats then republicans, there are more registered democrats in this country then republicans. It makes sense that if you call a thousand registered voters there will be more democrats in the poll because there are more democrats in the country http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/story/2011-12-22/voters-political-parties/52171688/1 Registered Democrats still dominate the political playing field with more than 42 million voters, compared to 30 million Republicans and 24 million independents
+1 PRINCETON, NJ -- Though the vast majority of Americans say they would vote for their party's nominee for president in 2012 if that person happens to be a Mormon, 22% say they would not, a figure largely unchanged since 1967. The question is mainly relevant to the Republican and independent vote in 2012, given that the current Republican front-runner, Mitt Romney, is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as the Mormon church, and that another Mormon, former Utah Gov. and former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, may enter the race for the GOP nomination as early as next week. The new Gallup poll, conducted June 9-12, finds nearly 20% of Republicans and independents saying they would not support a Mormon for president. That is slightly lower than the 27% of Democrats saying the same. The largest differences in opposition to voting for a Mormon for president are by educational level, with adults who have not attended college more resistant than those with some college experience or college graduates. This educational pattern is seen in attitudes about voting for someone from almost all of the specific religious or demographic groups tested in the poll. There are no significant differences on this question by gender, age, region of the country, or religious preference. Additionally, the views of Americans who attend their place of worship weekly are no different from those of less frequent attenders or non-attenders. Opposition to Mormon President Among the Most Common Voting Bias At 22%, Americans' resistance to electing a Mormon president, even one nominated by their own party, is exceeded only by their opposition to electing someone who is either gay or lesbian (32%) or an atheist (49%). By contrast, less than half as many, 10%, say they would not vote for a Hispanic, and fewer than 10% would not vote for a nominee who is Jewish, Baptist, Catholic, female, or black.
that is silly and lets not forget he is leading in the polls with real metrics. Do evangelicals want a guy whose adminstration is openly hostile to Churches or not? He ordered Catholic Church (and therefore evangelical churches and institutions) to hand out drugs which abort babies. And Romney pointed out that Obama's team even was stopped in court from demanding a say in who is qualified to be a minister at a church. He is not going to do this unless he has to, but he as all the ammo he needs to really engage the evangelical base in a powerful way. You think Rove can't figure out how to drive that vote? Regarding advanced degrees... no one engages those with advanced degrees on this economy more than Romney. The guys knows what he is talking about. Those independents with advanced degrees... swing those back to Romneys column unless they are minorities. People with advanced degrees are looking at the first really competent experienced guy to run for President in a long time. All we have had is politicans and community organizers. We hope he is the blueprint for the future. from wikipedia He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, and then earned a joint JD and MBA from Harvard University. Romney entered the management consulting business, which led to a position at Bain & Company. Eventually serving as CEO, Romney brought the company out of crisis. He was co-founder and head of the spin-off company Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm that became highly profitable and one of the largest such firms in the nation. His wealth helped fund most of his future political campaigns. Active in his church, he served as ward bishop and later stake president in his area. He ran as the Republican candidate in the 1994 U.S. Senate election in Massachusetts, losing to long-time incumbent Ted Kennedy. Romney organized and steered the 2002 Winter Olympics as head of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee, and helped turn the troubled games into a financial success. --- If Romney plays his cards right and picks the right running mate... Obama's only chance is to bring Hillary on the ticket. Without that Romney rolls to an easy victory. You guys are buying into the liberal media distortions. When Obama went after the Catholic Church he lost the election. I know evangelicals... they will be voting for Obama along with a whole boatloads of Catholics who had voted for Obama. I guarantee it.
I'm not an Evangelical but it's hard for me to imagine they'd prefer Obama over...well...just about anyone else.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_(United_States)#cite_note-growing-11 Academics, intellectuals, and the highly educated overall constitute an important part of the Democratic voter base. Academia in particular tends to be progressive. In a 2005 survey, nearly 72% of full-time faculty members identified as liberal, while 15% identified as conservative. The social sciences and humanities were the most liberal disciplines while business was the most conservative. Male professors at more advanced stages of their careers as well as those at elite institutions tend be the most liberal.[22] Another survey by UCLA conducted in 2001/02, found 47.6% of scholars identifying as liberal, 34.3% as moderate, and 18% as conservative.[26] Percentages of professors who identified as liberal ranged from 49% in business to over 80% in political science and the humanities.[22] Social scientists, such as Brett O'Bannon of DePauw University, have claimed that the "liberal" opinions of professors seem to have little, if any, effect on the political orientation of students.[27][28] Whether or not that is true, some conservatives and Republicans complain they are offended and even threatened by the liberal atmosphere of college campuses.[who?] As of July 2008 the Students for Academic Freedom arm of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, a conservative organization, posted a list of 440 student complaints, most of which pertain to perceived liberal bias of college professors. Those with graduate education, have become increasingly Democratic beginning in the 1992, 1996,2000, 2004,and 2008 elections.
That was the sellout McCain with running mate who was far from intellectual - you might call her the anti advance degree candidate. I we just got done with bush sending all those independents running away from Republicans. Now we will see the swing back. Now we see a smart guy with a JD MBA who is beyond competent.
Not just McCain. Those with advanced degrees have been going to the democrats since 1992 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_(United_States)#cite_note-growing-11 Those with graduate education, have become increasingly Democratic beginning in the 1992, 1996,2000, 2004,and 2008 elections.
I changed my quote to include a comment on Palin. Trends change... you shall see. When you see that Obama has lost all those independents who do you think they were?
