If you are forced to pay into a program then you should take the benefits of it. It isn't hypocritical at all. You know SS was originally supposed to be voluntary right? Don't make me pay, I won't, then society owes me nothing. Fair to me.
In ALL societies there have been and ALWAYS will be programs that benefit some more than others and programs that benefit those for the greater good(or presumed good) of all. If you don't like this your ONLY option is to live a life of a hermit in a far away place. Having a requirement that individuals purchase health insurance is no more socialist than the requirement to purchase auto insurance or the requirement to pay taxes.
Not in the USA, at least until the last century.. there were NO federal social (welfare) programs. Yes obamacare medicare and medicaid and SS are ALL socialist programs, they are state operated, administered and mandated services. Yes obama is a socialist. And seriously really truly the fed govt doesn't have any authority in the Constitution to implement welfare programs of any kind. It should be left up to the states. and the law requiring auto insurance, which i believe varies by state, is one of the most corrupt laws ever. It doesn't even make sense. Insurance is a premium that you pay for protection of you, your family or your assets. auto insurance, where mandated, allows the fucking insurance companies to deny your claims if it is determined that you are at fault LOL. What a win for the insurers. If I have to pay your ass to cover me.. then I expect your ass to cover me, not weasel out because it was my fault, if that is the case then why do I want insurance? oh right, cause I have no choice.
Hell I guess I've been living a socialist life for all my life with the mandated auto insurance purchase I've been making since I was 16. Who wudda thunk it. Mandated business insurance I carry, yeppers it's socialism. Mandated drivers license I have to purchase, once again class...socialism. Going to drive to look at a job on Monday, goddamn it, gotta go by way of those socialist paved roads.
we all have, that's why obama is pres, and why socialism is acceptable.. imo anyway. It doesn't work anywhere but sure let's keep at it.. WOOOOOOOOOOO OHH BAA MAA!!
Piggybank we have a different definition of socialism. Rules and regulations and taxes are not in my or the dictionary's definition of socialism or socialistic policies and programs. The post office is an example of a socialistic program, but that isn't bad, it's a good thing our government had the vision and initiative to start the post office and the national highway system among others. Government isn't bad, too much government and mismanaged government is, that is the challenge, not to eliminate government but to make it run more efficiently for the good of the country and it's citizens.
You're not forced to pay into it. All US citizens are entitled. A private trader living off of capital gains would not be contributing, at all. All persons 65 years of age or older who have been legal residents of the United States for at least 5 years are eligible for Medicare.
Wow! Where does one find those jobs that pay you in capital gains? I have friends that pay way too much in taxes and all those SS and Medicare fees that would like one of those jobs that don't force them to make those payments.
