Romney was + 4 on RCP in February when the GOP primaries where still going on and other candidates where splitting the vote.Since Romney became the nominee he has never had a 5.7 or even a +4 lead and his numbers have been steadily declining Romney used to be +8 on Rasmussen now it is even in April it was Obama + 1.7,today it is + 2.0 The RCP average uses to many old polls btw .Obama is beating Romney by more then + 2 in the most recent polls

Ok. Sanitorum didn't drop out of the race until April 10th .Once Romney became the clear nominee the rcp average numbers got closer
