Hello!! What happens with dividends? Corporations pay corporate taxes, pay dividends to shareholders who in turn get taxed on the dividends. Still maintain this is a "stupid" idea? It already exists.

After all is said and done, companies that have made a profit can do one of two things with the excess cash. They can (1) take the money and reinvest it to earn even more money, or (2) take the excess funds and divide them among the company's owners, the shareholders, in the form of a dividend.

If the company decides to pay out dividends, the earnings are taxed twice by the government because of the transfer of the money from the company to the shareholders. The first taxation occurs at the company's year-end when it must pay taxes on its earnings. The second taxation occurs when the shareholders receive the dividends, which come from the company's after-tax earnings.

I won't even comment on you last sentence re: food stamps & section 8 housing. I'm guessing you started indulging in something a while ago. No one deserves to be a freeloader in this country.

not sure what your problem is, I am an advocate of zero corporate taxes, if you want to reinvest it that just makes a bigger pie for the rest of us. If you want to pay it in dividends, well, then, that is income to me, and I will pay you the taxes I owe, whether it is flat or progressive. And I will pay you a very high personal income tax if you will just keep your greedy hands off the 500 companies I own. The only reason you won't accept my plan is because that would leave you totally powerless. All your power is in that corporate tax code, and you gain power (why you need it I don't know) by accepting bribes in exchange for changes in the corporate tax code. 20,000 pages just to give you a chance to get re elected next time. Man, you must be one fucked up dude.

(not you dho, just politicians and people in general)

You must have an IQ of < 80 .. instead of debating the facts, that you introduced, you try to run away. You appear to be as intellectual as dbgarland. Educate yourself ...

Your gibberish further reinforces that you must be high or drunk. Sorry, but your IQ is severely lacking. Thank God for IGNORE .. join the douchebag ...

If you actually had anything of merit to discuss/debate, I'd oblige. But your uninformed drivel is downright scary due to how unintelligible it is. Later ....

  6. I personally am against a consumption tax. It is unfair to retirees among others. They paid income taxes all their lives, now they are supposed to pay again everytime they buy something so that people making big salaries don't have to pay income taxes? That will never fly.

Another reason to be against them is that inevitably we would end up with both an income tax and a consumption tax. There has to be some sort of transition period and unless you pass a constitutional amendment, the minute the democrats got back in power they would reinstitute the income tax. For the children, probably. LOL

What I do support is a renunciation of all trade treaties and reintroduction of import duties. We funded the country very well for a long time using them without an income tax, as Ron Paul has noted. All the free trade mania has done for us is hollow out our vital manufacturing sector, destroy the blue collar middle class and hand a giant subsidy to german auto manufacturers and asian electronics companies. I struggle to see how it is helping us.

well, we can't even control a little border to Mexico and keep amateurs from crossing, I hate to think if we had to rely on the government to control all imports against professional smugglers how we would fare.

As for the Fair Tax, ahaha ! Prices wouldn't drop so fast so soon; remember the concept of sticky prices?

Here's a good rule of thumb: Ignore conservative economists.

  9. Maybe the government would get serious about securing the border if its revenues depended upon that.

Some of the government's revenues do depend on a secure border. Duty and taxes (merchandise processing fee) collected on imported goods.
