That statement is contradictory Ron. Saying it's easy to make money most of the time gambling. LOL. And to anyone who does this for a living Ron, there is nothing easy about trading. It's hard work to find an edge, keep it, and then find a new one when it goes away. This is why I don't buy into the trading on the side bullshit. Not trying to attack you, I just always get a chuckle out of guys that think trading is a profitable hobby. I have never in 15 years met a long term profitable hobbyist trader. Not saying one does not exist. Just haven't met them yet.
I understand what you are getting at. Simply put, there are two traders down here in the basement. DO NOT take it to mean that I disrespect you for being one of the few on this site who is the real deal. If you are down here, and you say something I do not like, I will swing at you, that is what this place is for. I have never made a single snide remark upstairs, I kept it professional up there. Down here if I call you a neo-con dick, and you call me a bleeding heart liberal sack o shit, do not take that personally. I don't, it is the nature of the game. That said, we might be the only folks who post upstairs who also play downstairs, that would be an interesting study.
Hobbyists trade the wrong markets, which means that they are not in the game every day, every minute, every hour. That is why I have posted upstairs to aspiring traders what to trade, what broker to join, when to work, so they can be in the game all the time. The moves will come, but if you are talking to a client when it does come, you are fukked. And that move might be the trade that makes your week. The rest of the week might be small losers. But because you were making a sale on Monday when that 200 pip move in the Euro happened, your account is smaller. No, you do not need an office and a seat at the exchange. You need to know what to trade, and how to trade it. That is all.
Oh, and one more thing. There is no edge. There is only process, and market mechanics. And Fish would agree with that as well.
I hear you RCG, but I'm actually a pretty fair guy. I treat people down here the way I treat them upstairs. I won't call free thinker a dick just because he is down here. It usually means I genuinely feel he is a dick. I don't like to play two characters. It's why over my 11 years here I have never had another alias except for one single day where I had to create one to send a message to Baron. I'm a pretty straight shooter. It's why I actually have a lot of friends on ET that I actually meet in person. So you can call me what you want down here. If I say something, I usually mean it no matter where I post. So because of that, I try to be fair. And my rule on ET is, never say anything to anyone on here that you would not say to them in person. You can ask Don Bright about that one RCG. He learned that one the hard way over dinner.
Actually Fish did his dissertation paper at Wharton on his theory and proved he had edge. E-mail him and he'll send it to you.
If you guys keep this up I"ll have to hit the complain button and this thread will end up being moved to Trading.
