    Well, it would not be you paying others to sit on their ass, you and I could also sit on our asses if we chose to do so, or we could provided value-added for additional income. The basic income, such is the idea, would be paid by robots, so basically corporations would pay a tax for employing robots (I actually hate that word), it would keep most of the income but part of it would be used to cover basic income. Imagine the dramatic and massive efficiency gains if we could get rid of the IRS, any welfare programs, medical and healthcare programs. It is of course way more complex, and honestly over my head, but that is how I, with my limited information and ability to dream, believe it could become reality. I am still waiting for better ideas or solutions though...

    Without a Renaissance period, none of that would be here today, or if it were, it would be more hell-like.

    I started a thread on a robotax (as discussed by Bill Gates). I just find the idea of taxing innovation and efficiency repulsing and rubs me the wrong way. We are however over spending on other useless things such as the defense budget.

    Unless you find the kind of education reform & patronage by the elite after the middle ages which spurred the Renaissance, you can forget about it.
