San Fran and LA have built up sensors, cameras, and receivers on a stop lights, street lights, signs..ect. They have spent an enormous amount of money. On a side note to this ...check out Gorilla Technology. They basically do this for much much more than just self driving. But the expense is massive for each city and they will charge RoboTaxis for this..Both taxi companies and individually owned self driving. Insurance will not cover RoboTaxi unless you open an account with Gorilla or a similar company that contracts in that city. https://www.sintrones.com/news/sint...roup-to-create-a-new-future-for-smart-cities/ As usual, Taiwan is way out ahead of the rest of the world. And yes, they use Nvida chips. LA and San Fran have fully implemented fast chargers. For a RoboTaxi..you need many many fast chargers..all over town. Enormous Investment that you will not find in average US neighborhood.
Self-driving is a mirage. Unless you get humans off the road it will never work properly. Humans don't make logical decisions but robots do so you will always a mismatch in the differential decision tree.
yes, in wuhan, they like to try new experiments, even the hateful nyt profiles its marvelous safety, only stupid americans are jaywalking. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/13/business/china-driverless-cars.html
