Robinhood Outage All Day

Discussion in 'Wall St. News' started by guru, Mar 2, 2020.

  1. Those who shorted through Robinhood last Friday will be seriously hurt by the strong rebound today.

  2. I have never experienced outage on IB before. At least, never during market hours.

I don't believe you can directly short, only via options unless something has changed. But none the less your point stands, just another way to screw retail.

    • Lucky it wasn't Friday when options expire.
    • I don't see much harm in being locked out of your account on a Monday.

lol, oh man am I missing the sarcasm? or something else I am missing? If I was locked out of my account today, I would be beyond furious.

    • Does RH have a toll free number to call in trades?
    • TD was out a month ago, but they have toll free number for trades.
This would be a good lesson to have that number ready, with any broker you use.

Because I couldn't put any orders in and make money is the simplest reason. So, I wouldn't of been able to get long, couldn't take profits and now if I choose to buy in on tuesday I have to buy in higher with no profits locked in...

Spy had options expiring today. I’m sure many of the gamblers over in that reddit forum lost their shirts. That’s a good lesson to use a high quality broker even if it means u pay a little in commission. As the old saying goes, you get what u pay for

    • You are being blinded by hindsight bias.
    • The trades you think you would have made due to today's market action you would not have made if you had access to your account.
    • Don't fret on lost opportunities due to hindsight bias.
    • Hindsight is always 20/20.
