RM's occasional market calls...

Discussion in 'Journals' started by Rearden Metal, Nov 8, 2010.

1. Rearden, I wanted to slip something in if the mods allow it. I am aware of your previous history.

May I suggest Google and the words baclofen and alcoholism? Might be of interest to you. I am taking it.

2. RM you are classic. :) A bunny loving BSD, ex IDF, and likes H. Happy Holidays friend. Most importantly your calls have been good. Kudos.

Samsara

Gold futures are up on Sunday. Monday should be interesting.

Looks like he did it again. Quite the maestro.

4. Just got another fill: Sold another 1/3 of AGQ position at $143.09

I also have an offer out to exit 1/6 (only) of the SSO*, a few ticks higher than we are now. I'll let you know if and when this is filled.

*I'm personally actually in BGU (not SSO) for a little more leverage.
Current SSO price: $47.15. I'm offered at the SSO equivalent of $47.18.

Edit: Good, filled on exit 1/6 of the SSO/BGU position. Still holding 5/6.
Regarding the AGQ position: Already out of 2/3 now for decent gains.
Regarding the DGP position: Got out of half on Friday, still holding the other half, but I have limits out to exit today if it rallies a bit more.

5. Offered to sell another 1/3 of SSO/BGU position at SSO equivalent of $47.40. If SSO rallies above that point, consider it filled. SSO current price: $47.34.

EDIT: Never mind that $47.40 offer- Change that to $47.32, three cents above where it is now, and this will be filled momentarily....

Edit: Filled. Only half the SSO position remains. Half the DGP position remains. 1/3 the AGQ position remains.

6. Now offering the remaining AGQ, around midpoint between the current price ($144.16) and today's highs ($145.56).

Two important OT points, and then back to trading:
Baclofen looks VERY intriguing, although I hadn't heard of this until now. Anyone with any kind of alcoholism/benzo issues should definitely do some research into this! With regards to opiates, unless I'm mistaken baclofen targets the GABA mechanism and not the opiate receptor mechanism. So if opiates help you but benzos do not (as is my case), I wouldn't have such high expectations for baclofen as this would contradict the entire 'Endorphin Deficiency Syndrome' theory. Still worth looking into though.

Dandxg: Your approval is appreciated, but I should just say that there's nothing glamorous or 'cool' about heroin addiction. The gastro-intestinal side effects are brutal, and your libido gets knocked down to a 'Professor Farnsworth' old man type level. Only people who just can't get relief from treatment resistant depression any other way should even consider touching/trying H for any reason, regardless of the medication's legal status. Heroin is extremely addictive, for real. Plenty of people can 'chip' (=occasionally use) coke (as can I), but H chippers are rare. How it tends to work with H is that you're either not using it at all, or you're totally addicted- no days off.

7. Sold another 1/4 of DGP position just now in AH, at $40.79.
1/2 of the SSO position remains. 1/4 of the DGP position remains. 1/3 of the AGQ position remains.

SSO position was opened at $46.63. Today's close: $47.11.
DGP position was opened at $39.86. Today's close: $40.77.
AGQ position was opened at $139.04. Today's close: $144.36.

8. Consider everything liquidated right here:
SSO: $47.43
AGQ: $145.11 bid.
DGP: $41.15 bid.

Yet another satisfying trade for the record books...

10. Nice, Rearden. So far, your prediction of how this year would end is looking spot on. Good trade.
