Ripple reached a high of $1.2779 at 10pm GMT (5pm ET) on December 27. However since then most cryptocurrencies have traded lower. Still, at a price of $1.1411, it has a "market capitalization" of $44.04 billion, compared to Bitcoincash at $2,443 and a "market capitalization" of $40.74 billion. .

People chasing momentum. Seems like the only coin unaffected by s. Korean regulation. Must be because ripple has pushed for mass adoption and finance use.
The problem with Ripple is the banks have their own solution Utility Settlement Coin in various currencies. Some of the folk over at https://www.reddit dot com/r/Ripple/ are claiming that Ripple (briefly) took the number two position from Ethereum, however, I think they are basing this on the Coinmarketcap prices which I've found to be less reliable than the Worldcoinindex prices. At its peak of $1.7034, Ripple had a "market capitalization" of $65.73 billion, versus approx. $70 billion for Ethereum. .
