Sounds like she took out personal/main residence mortgages on condos that she then quickly rented out. That is mortgage fraud. Mortgage fraud, specifically “occupancy fraud,” occurs when a borrower intentionally misrepresents a property as their primary residence to secure better loan terms, knowing they will not live there.
I wonder what, if anything will happen today? Will she be prevented from entering the building? Will Powell stop her pay? perp walk out of the building? Or nothing?
I worked with one black person in my life and I thought it was unique to see him in the office. Then he spoke and turns out he was British.
What are her credentials then I want to see exactly why she is supposedly unqualified according to you. 90% of Trump's appointees are unqualified for their roles by normal standards. This is what people do on here attack minorities and woman because supposedly they are inferior for some vague reason that is often just wrong. In any event, whatever she's supposedly done is a joke compared to Trump's rap sheet. Come on now, if you care about rules and laws, Trump should NEVER be President.
Powell is not getting fired, that is true but he is getting replaced once his term is up next May. He serves at the pleasure of POTUS and right now Trump is not having pleasure with him so Trump is replacing him. It's a bit ironic with regards to the Fed Reserve's independence if you think about it. I mean the chairman serves at the pleasure of POTUS and is nominated by the POTUS and yet he/she is supposed to make independent decisions despite of everybody well how are you to remain independent when you were put in that position by the very person that you are supposed to remain independent from? I mean Powell was put in that position by Trump during his first term to replace Yellen and now he himself is getting replaced. Go Figure!
Powell and the Fed governors do NOT serve at the pleasure of the President. Cabinet secretaries do and can be fired at will. The President nominates a candidate for the Fed chair and then Congress must approve them. Similar to SCOTUS nominees, the point of the separation is to prevent the very thing that Trump is seeking - undue influence on the office. These very long terms and deliberate independence are what separates us from third world banana republics.
Whataboutism. Trust me, I hold everyone else in office equally responsible and agree with you completely on many Trump appointees being woefully unqualified. But that does not change the fact that she lied and attempted to commit financial fraud. An ordinary person might get away with a slap on the wrist but the bar is higher for a fed official. Her past track record does not read like she was qualified for effective work in her position in the first place. I stand by my assessment. All her past educational credentials and past work and papers are publicly accessible for you to cast your own judgment.
Technically no but the law DOES give the President the legal power to remove any Board of Governor of the Federal Reserve including the chairman for CAUSE which is what Trump is doing with Lisa Cook. So in a way, although not officially, the post does serve at some degree of pleasure of the POTUS especially that the post is first nominated by the POTUS. Yes the Senate approval does add a level of official assurance for autonomy from interference from other branches of the government which I overlooked but we will see how it plays out in reality. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/does-the-president-have-legal-authority-to-fire-the-fed-chair
