Apparently a crime boss in prison sent the word out to start chaos.. the idea is to torch random cars and buses blocking entrances to the favela which are on hills. over 40 cars/buses/trucks have been burned. 30 people killed. I still claim that Rio is a safe place to live/visit.. these operations are far away from the beach areas (Ipanema). Tourists here would not know anything unusual is happening.
