  4. If you think about it like this it helps to see why:

    If there were a 1000 doors and you choose one and the host closes the other 998 doors would you switch?? Ofcourse! The chance of you getting it right the first time is 1/1000. So chances are you get it wrong the first time and when it is narrowed down to two doors, the other one has to be right! THe same goes for a 3 door problem.

  6. Full version is that he's on an expedition to the north pole (or south, i forget which- it's the one with penguins) and they get lost in a freak blizzard. Wife dies of exhaustion and his friends tell him they buried her in a snowbank, you can guess the rest.

    The first time I heard the story, they were in a ship wreck close to the pole, stranded on an ice covered island, his best friend died.. the rest is pretty much the same. Good riddle:cool:

    I first heard it as a bunch of missionaries got caught in the ice flow. He ate a frozen nun !! Oh dear.

    I thought Rearden had it sussed
