Richard Dennis and Turtles In Chicago Tuesday

Discussion in 'Technical Analysis' started by Trend Following, Jun 24, 2009.

  1. Regardless of the actual viability of the strategy for the RETAIL trader or if it produces an edge for the professional, it remains a great trading tale. Covel has really gone the extra mile to hammer out the detail and tell a compelling story.

many traders lose money and take out their frustrations on anything/one they see as the least bit succesful, hence the negativity on the board.

  3. so is your "skepticism" and denial of trend following or attributing richard dennis 's success to luck (over 40 years?) a symtom of your inability to make money? taking out your frustration on trading techniques and aligning with yourself with loser who blow out won't help your trading, you know...

but as a self procalim financial jounalist, your biased comments brings questions to your integrity and your cognitive abilities..

Michael Covel is a researcher, writer and journalist. He has conducted in-depth interviews with the turtles and Richard Dennis himself. He has performed a great amount of research on the topics.

Why is it so wrong for him to write a book about the topic? Its like someone writing about George Washington or some other famous figure.

I would like for one of the turtles or Dennis himself to write a book on the topic so we get a first hand perspective, however, they simply will not come forward to do so. So all we have is Michael Covel who has gone to great lengths to interview and research.

Marketsurfer/Traderzones, would you be so hostile against someone who wrote a book about Jesse Jackson or Ronald Reagan? Michael is just another guy writing about someone else.

I would also not attack Michael personally, but instead, argue the merits of the material in the books he writes. That makes for a much stronger argument. Personal attacks on Michael are a very weak form of debate.

Marketsurfer is not attacking. Just disagreement over trend following. TraderZones has a rich conspiracy life, nothing wrong with that either!

  7. Perhaps someone can write the biography of Rob and Fab?
There are certainly plenty of Milli Vanilli traders on this thread.
