  1. first, i don't hold LW in high regard. he is a good trader, the books/ideas of his, that i have read, add value, and he is a nice, easily accesible market original--not to mention a world class actress for a daughter. does he over promote, do his marketing materials contain questionable hype, does he have some questionable events in his background?? probably. is he more succesful than you will ever be? since your anonymous, i have no idea, but my guess is yeah by far.
your anger and scorn of people based on little snippets of quasi fact and inuendo is bizzare--- you only know one side of the story-- you can email LW or even call him up to get his side--- will you do this NO, in fact, you will not even provide your source-- HOW BOGUS! I know your side inside and out, however, i took the time to talk to LW to find out his side---what he says makes sense, call him and see for yourself.

im sick and tired of seeing these guys get maligned based on shaky information and agenda driven anonymous internet trolls with clever ability with words but otherwise shallow, angry people.

  2. TA guru J7HN B8LLINGER is in the group, as well as other TA luminaries, WTF are you talking about?

it's only old wives tales , market hubris, and untestable ideas that is dismissed as garbage.

  3. Ask a kid. Kids have a special talent for seeing thru the lies. They are masters of trend discovery. It's when interest in some object or concept rapidly increases within a timeframe.

It often seems random to traders because they have "time bias". Trends typically develop over a time frame that far exceeds most trader's threshold to hold a position.

Age tends to make one crusty..

  4. Jim Rogers is probably the most successful trendfollower of our generation. Master trendfollower.

Recent trends he nailed in past 5 years:

    Shanghai/HSI long
    Crude Oil long
    Metals/Gold long
    Agriculture/Corn long
    Dollar short
    Housing/homebuilder crash
    Financials short

Rogers believes that price is a reflection of trend and not the means. He discovers trend outside of price action. Price action is just a reflection or confirmation of trending realities. He always seems to be a kid at heart.

  5. That may work as a definition over a longer time horizon. But trends that exist in the very short term cannot be harnessed in quite this manner.

  7. Most are looking for the grail in the wrong place. You cannot find trend via price study alone.

  8. Yes, but trends occur over a period that is always a time unit greater than what most traders are willing to hold on for. Trends are cyclical in nature and don't exist for seconds, days or the few weeks that the vast majority of traders are involved in.

  9. A short term "trend" really isn't a trend. It's a ripple. This is where TA shines. Playing the seesaw game in open interest and short term oscillation of price.

  10. master buy/sell and holder perhaps.

he is right to a point. when i speak of trends, although obvious, i am speaking of trend in price without outside reality--- TA trends discounting all but price/volume.

what's the difference between rogers and fundamental buy/sell and hold?
