Soros and Jones made most of their profit in equities? I don't know enough about them to answer this, although it's common knowledge that Soros' most famous trade was a currency trade (which is why he's known as "the man who broke the Bank of England"), and Paul Tudor Jones runs a CTA (that "C" is for "Commodities"). Simons' firm trades commodities as well as stocks; although I'd guess they're mostly in stocks, it's not clear to me. Buffett is the only one who seems like a "definitive" equities guy to me, even though he has been known to take large currency posiitions as well.
