Americans love their favorite politicians. They can be corrupt as hell and still get votes from their legions of followers. Otherwise, explain why the same politicians are still in power 40-50 years? You still have Nancy Pelosi, Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, etc. Even those who do not have it up there like Kamala Harris and Alejandra Ocasio-Cortez still have their loyal voters. You would think, they would have been voted out of power a long time ago. RINO John McCain till his dying years was still being voted back into office by Arizonians all those years.
I think the explanation for career politicians is not that people love them so much, but that the politicians have completely gamed the system - crowding out any and all possible competition by rigging (not directly, mind you) the voting, funding and participation of their constituency. The only way to defeat them is by surprise - and good luck with that. If they see you coming, they employ the full power of the "system" against you, and you don't stand a chance. That's why we are where we are.
RFK is a nut, even prog, black, hispanic and climate voters know that.In an open primary like 2016/20 he wouldn't be wouldn't be getting 1% The majorty of The Dem party are centrist like ExGoper,Usualname etc. They approve of Biden.Although they are the majority of the Dem party they are not enough for a Dem to win the presidency.
I don't think he's actually satisfied as much as he is defending every possible attack because Biden is "his team captain". In the dark of the night, he really wishes Biden wasn't the guy. Whereas I think UN has convinced himself that Biden is doing a decent job.
Presidents are prone to good and bad timing on the economy and simply a stroke of fortune as to when they come into the game. Clinton had the best luck coming in during the tech boom..... eocnomy was printing money. 2nd is Obama coming in during a post crisis book with low rates and government money pumping in. Like just get out of the way. If there was no COVID trump could have simply sat back and watch the economy continue to roll and won 2020 easily, I truly believe that. Even when trump won I said all he has to do is appoint some real quality people around him and he could roll through his first term. well that is not trump even without COVID. Then the 2020 election would have been really interesting because it is hard to take down a sitting president in a good economy (1st term Obama, Bill Clinton) just like it is hard win reelection in a weakening economy (Bush Sr., Carter, Biden). Obama had a great economy to hand off to a dem and they chose Hillary..ugh. Biden is sitting on inflation and a lot of social issues in addition to his age and if we stumble next year (economy) his little chance drops to zero all depending on who GOP runs. I feel pretty confident that an empty suit GOP will win in 2024 as long as trump and ronnie can get pushed aside. Ronnie is on the implosion track but trump is he Walking Dead...you cannot kill him.
I doubt Trump would have won even without covid. His approval ratings were upside down nearly his entire term before covid. While there is a first for everthing approval ratings are a perfect 11-0 in predicting incumbent re election.
perhaps but COVID and his continued fucktardedness opened the door even wider for Biden-Kamala ticket. If no COVID it would have been a lot closer with a still strong economy. Sc justices would have tipped it back to Dems anyway perhaps.
