Rex Tillerson Debates Quitting After ‘Unprofessional’ Trump Bashes Jeff Sessions

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Tony Stark, Jul 24, 2017.

  1. Newsweek quoted Politico which reads more completely:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2017/07/24/trump-sessions-cabinet-shame-240911

"One source familiar with conversations Tillerson has had recently with associates said Trump’s top diplomat feels he is “not being allowed to do his job” and is reconsidering how long he is willing to stay. Tillerson initially planned to stay for at least a year, the source said, but now “he’s no longer wedded to that idea.” Some Tillerson allies believe that, like McMaster, he is the target of a whisper campaign intended to undermine his stature.

“Thought never crossed his mind," R.C. Hammond, a State Department spokesman, said of the idea Tillerson might leave early. “Plenty of work to do.”

In the West Wing, aides openly mused about the fate of Priebus. With Scaramucci’s hiring, Priebus no longer controls the communications department — which is "the most important to Trump," one person said — and has seen his role diminished in political and policy decisions too."

Whatever way the wind blows kind of man. http://dailycaller.com/2017/06/05/y...c-becomes-a-senior-state-department-official/

  3. R.C. Hammond is a reliable source? Any way the wind blows.. Maybe I'm wrong about him.

  7. Just thinking aloud, there is something very off key about R.C. Hammond getting a top spokesman's position in Tillerson's department. Clearly Hammond is a minor mercenary character but who's side is he on now? Is he Tillerson's man or Kushner's?

Tillerson has every reason not to want Whitehouse cronies interfering with his hiring choices and certainly having Jared Kushner share his role.

Ok, in relative terms it is like pointing out a crooked picture on the Titanic however.. One would be even more worried if Tillerson was not pissed off.

  8. I still don't see what your point is. We are taking about the difference between 'spokesman' and 'source' related to the article cited. What is real, and what is liberal fantasy? Can't you see?

You guys insult human intelligence when you cite WAPO or CNN and their 'sources'.

  10. Your pretty when your angry. See? great fun from the safety of the internet..

I'm not a liberal, I'm not a conservative but I am very much sensible. I have a lot of US friends, a couple of US employees who describe themselves as "real" conservatives (pre-80s style). Fiscally balanced, don't give a damn about other's choices (gay whatever) providing change is a. inevitable and b. society is given time to adjust, turning an ocean liner etc. etc.

The people who need to be chased with burning torches are the tribalists, "sit down your rocking the boat". Morality is irrelevant as long as they "win" their Pyrrhic fucking victories. McCain is an ass for many things recently (brain tumor maybe not helping..) but I admired his comments on the polarisation subject when he returned to the senate this week. A brush with death is great for clearing the mind.

Libs and Cons (normal working people) have overlapping interests that are nearly 100%. The tiny shrieking left/right propagandist voices, breeding in their internet echochambers are done soon. Rupert and the other propagandist monstrosities (CNN too if you like) are for the guillotine of history. It has gone too far, the ship is too big to sink in the shallow sea of modern Americans.

“I was no party man myself, and the first wish of my heart was, if parties did exist, to reconcile them.”
    —George Washington

“We [must] hold the just balance and set ourselves as resolutely against improper corporate influence on the one hand as against demagogy and mob rule on the other.”
    —Theodore Roosevelt

“Extremists on the left tend to be just as critical of pragmatism as extremists on the right.”
    —Richard Nixon

“Neither party should be defined by pandering to the outer reaches of American politics and the agents of intolerance, whether they be Louis Farrakhan or Al Sharpton on the left, or Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell on the right.”
    — John McCain
