  4. moral of the story is life can change in a heartbeat. it happened to me. i was working on my house on a ladder about 15 ft high. a gust of wind caught me and i hit the ground. next thing i knew i woke up in the hospital $40,000 poorer. i had many broken ribs and collarbone but they told me many people they see with injuries like mine dont walk out of the hospital so i am thankful it wasnt worse. it went something like this:
    helocopter ride 30 miles=$14000
5 days in the hospital =$19000
    testing mris,xrays,doctor fees ect =$5000
the pain even with the most powerful drugs= priceless

My friend and i were tearing down his moms garage. We were walking on the ceiling joists when the one my friend was walking on snapped and he fell just 7ft and landed on his feet.Except he didnt land exactly right and his lower leg bone shattered and ripped through the skin sticking out.I almost had a fucking heart attack and was so grossed out.
He went to the hospital were they didnt want to operate until he could provide his insurance proof! We finally found his insurance card after 4hours and they operated.HE had a severe compound fracture.Had he been transferred to the county hospital as they were threatening to do if we couldnt find his insurance proof,he would have had his leg amputated.
    Anyway,total cost over 18months and 3 major operations:$300,000.

I met a young guy in the hospital who was in a wheelchair because he rolled off the roof he was working on.He couldnt control his arms, legs nor the saliva flowing from his mouth.

Any height over 3 or 4 ft can extremely fk you up.I try to avoid any work that involves heights. Its a disaster waiting to happen.

that really is bullshit. I lacerated my tendon on my finger the other month and they charged me 1,800 for going to the emergency room. All they did was put 3 stitches and gave me a splint. I would've happily stuck a bandaid on there had I had known the extent of work that went into the procedure. Atrocity.
