That's not really true on the futures side. There are firms like DRW and TransMarket Group who hire traders as employees, pay them on a W-2, and have a full benefits package like medical insurance and paid vacations. They pay you a bonus depending upon your performance.

And before you dismiss the "bonus" aspect - one of Don Wilson's Chicago office cryptocurrency traders retired to the South of France a couple years ago. In his thirties. They get Investment Bank traders in fact. DRW has a physical energy desk in Houston and they do Investment Bank level order flow.

In fact, firms like TMG and DRW are prohibited by their CME electronic membership status from risking employee funds. They can only risk firm capital. And they sure as shit aren't going to take money from you for "training".

It's also unlikely those firms will hire the OP in this thread.

Ye I agree but I was thinking of the typical "funded trader TA" stuff.
I restricted my answer because OP asked for "funded prop firms with a generous split" and talked about "technical price action".
The examples you show sound like quantitative/algo firms.
I am guessing any serious company will not hire a complete random dude with no qualifications other than "I made money 10 years ago" :D

About ten years ago, (as I recall) there was a flurry of enforcement action from the CFTC and the NFA on firms that were deducting "education" and "training" fees from what the customers were led to believe was trading account equity. The CFTC has very strict rules about segregated customer funds.

So my personal feelings is that any firm that holds itself out to you as a proprietary trading firm, they participate in the regulated futures markets, and they take money for any sort of "training" or "education" - contact the CFTC and the NFA. They will be interested.

  5. Thank you for the response: Yes I was a profitable and am still a very knowledgeable Technical Short Term trader....and want to get back into the saddle and start again with this work from home situation. I am in Florida and things are pretty crazy still around here. Would you know of a link to prop shops that I could research and see if any are a fit for me?
