One thing people need to understand is that one of many allowed purposes for PPP loans is to pay your employees. There are many other allowed uses including upgrading your equipment, updating your facility, paying your business mortgage, paying your rent & utilities, worker protection expenditures and many others. Most of these purposes allow forgiveness of that component of the loan (e.g. using it to pay your employees, rent, etc.); a few other uses require that portion of the loan to be paid back. Making the assumption that all of the PPP loan from a Pizza shop(s) will be used to pay their employees and therefore each should be paid $42,000 per year is just idiotic --- and shows that most people don't even understand the program.
PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM The pizzeria is a welfare queen and deserves to be cancelled for its hypocrisy, deal with it.
Why don't you go read the criteria of the program. If a restaurant is closed; they still need to pay their rent & utilities -- otherwise they would have gone under and there would be no jobs to return to. Therefore PPP loans can be used for a variety of purposes to keep the business solvent.
I have and know what it may be used for. The spirit of the program is still to retain the workforce employed (difficult if a business goes under from debt obligations). It still doesn't change the fact that they partook in welfare and are bitching at others doing the same.
It's long overdue for the federal unemployment benefits to be discontinued and those individuals sitting at home earning unemployment money not to work are sent back to the workforce & be productive.
not up to a pizza place to decide that. Whatever happened to your thread of not hastening "reopening America"? Why aren't you outraged at DeSantis for pushing the same to the Cruise industry?
As our vaccination level rises we need to re-open America especially now that most locations are 100% open -- with masks still required for unvaccinated people generally. Now that there is a huge demand for workers -- we should stop paying able-bodied people to sit home & do nothing. This pandemic unemployment was supposed to be a temporary measure while the businesses were closed -- these businesses are now all open. It is time to stop paying pandemic unemployment and require everyone to search for & obtain a job.
